New update has apparently installed in seconds, which I think is a lie. Now my Update check just says just wait and does.... nothing. I have a reboot and shutdown link which just ends up in a loop. Brilliant.

It installed pretty fast for me. Faster even than any regular windows update.

It sorted itself out and now says no updates, shows the latest in system info.

Hello - date peculiarity with 21H1 install.

Installed as an optional update and shows on list as 21H1 - installed 21/5/21, BUT on the Windows update page "OS build Info" link it shows as installed on 24/10/20 which was the date the last major update (20H2) was installed. Peculiar?

Anybody else found this please? Mel

I did a fresh ISO install so mine says how it should. It probably hasn't updated but if you do winver and it shows 21H1 don't worry about the date it will catch up next updates.

Winver shows 21H1 (OS build 19043.985).

I use an alternative (have several but usually EditPad) - but I often find notepad useful for temporary sticky note/scratch pad type use - fast and convenient to start, etc. no messing about. Moving it to a store app will likely undo that as MS's store implementation leaves a lot to be desired even though in theory that is how it should all be done.

21H1 installed in about 15 seconds for me. Seems like it wasn't much of an update to be worthy of the name.
