Windows 10

Im in!

And.... I've no idea what this "one interesting change" is meant to be?

If its just that the log in screen now puts your picture above your username and password rather than to the left, and aligns the screen centrally, exactly like.... Windows 7 used to, then thats really disappointing :(.

Edit: oh wow, it really is just the login screen :(

I really hope they've fixed the issue where your lockscreen slideshow only plays on one monitor. In Windows 8.1, the slideshow plays on 2 displays, I have three so it's annoying that it never went to two, but one's even worse!

Please report to Microsoft URGENTLY

Fixed. :D

I am sure all Windows Insider users will see feedback and voted it that would make Microsoft engineers fix it urgently.

I might just do that, I imagine that the 2 display restriction in 8.1 is just an oversight rather than an intentional handicap.

Something I've noticed as well, when I run pre-release versions of Windows, hibernate works fine. When it goes RTM though, it never works. I've had this with 7 and 8/8.1.

The "instant boot" is extremely useful for me, as otherwise I'll leave my PC on all the time, but the nicest thing about using these Windows 10 previews is that I've got hibernation back properly.

noticed you have to optionally install 'insider hub', bit odd ?!?

Yeah odd. After installed 10159, Insider Hub still listed in app and launched it not worked so realized the latest build removed Insider Hub. I went to optional features and noticed it was not installed so I added it.

Guess Microsoft get bored of Insider Hub and gave up stopped updated last week so look like no more guests. :(

Is anyone else using a Gigabyte utility and Windows 10, which loads on boot...?

I am using Easy Tune 6 with my Z77 board and 980 GTX, to control the fan spped, and on each boot I get the error message

"driver can't release to failure".

Doing a search I have seen it noted by others using Windows 10 or other flavours of Windows but with no solution, other than perhaps using something else to control the fan speed of the GPU.

Another day, another preview build (10159)... Didn't even get chance to install 10158 last night after downloading it! :D

Yes its on the Fast ring, I downloaded it last night.

Other than changing the look of the login screen a bit, its mainly just a release filled with a load of fixes.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between getting 10 on insider preview against waiting til RTM with regards to versions? I keep reading that there is some benefit to getting it on insider but it is a mystery to me.

Are you talking about upgrading an existing license, or just running Insider Previews entirely separate of any existing license you currently have?

I have one machine running Win 8 Pro and 1 running Win 7 Home.

Is it the case you can jump to higher versions with Insider pre-installed, but RTM will be a straight upgrade?

RTM will not be insider preview. Only the upgrade start on the day July 29th.

10159 released to the fast ring (available now)
10160 released to the manufacturing (not available until July 29th 2015)

So any builds before the 29th wont be the RTM?

I thought that usually the RTM was released before the general release date so that the OEMs could put it into new builds.
