The reason people now are getting it free is because they are the guinea pigs for the server OS.

If you really want win 10 then buy it and you will be able to turn off auto updates and only install what you NEED.
Who knows what crap MS will install and their track record is not very good in this area.

The free upgrade is exactly the same as purchasing a copy.

No. If I buy the pro version I won't be a guinea pig. Where as every one who wants it free, will have no say what MS install.

Incorrect.

Getting 10 Pro through the free upgrade will be exactly the same as buying a new 10 Pro license, with exactly the same controls on updates.

I could use my win 7 ultimate retail and get 10 Pro. But I won't. Free is not always free.

Why are you quoting update restrictions on 10 Home when your upgrade is to 10 Pro?

Buying Windows 10 Pro will give you the exact same as if you upgrade to Windows 10 Pro from 7 Ultimate. There is no difference between the upgrade and a purchased copy.

either free or buying it there's no difference to the OS itself.

the only difference is the license terms. the free upgrade is non transferable and you can't use your previous OS at the same time. if you buy it (the retail version) then that's transferable and your able to use your previous OS at the same time.

You won't be able to disable updates on a purchased Windows 10 Pro any more than you would be able to on a free upgrade.

There is no difference. They are the same.

That says nothing about free version specifics, if you have Win7 Pro, and upgrade to Win10 Pro free, you will have the same control as retail pro.

you said if you buy win10 you will be able to choose what to install instead of automatically. we are telling you no your wrong!!!..even if you buy win10 it'll do the same thing.

free upgrade version and bought version, it'll still do the updates from Windows Update automatically for home users. and Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise users will have the ability to defer updates

Will Microsoft addition Windows To Go in the control panel for Windows 10 Pro as I do love Windows To Go (on the flash memory stick) as I do understand that Microsoft only do this on Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education. At the moment Windows 10 Enterprise Preview is still old build on Microsoft site 10047 (not 10162).
