Windows 10

Does anyone else have the issue where you have lots of Edge tabs open... then when you run a full screen application and close it down you cant click on any of the other windows edge tabs anymore.. you have to close it down and open it up again. Kind of annoying as I usually leave about 10 internet tabs open and It wont let me click on them.

Took a bit of tinkering but finally managed to get upgraded from 8.1 to 10. Seems grand so far but first thing I don't like is the VPN connect/disconnect system which has gone backwards. It now pulls up a new window rather than the in-line buttons.

Next thing I don't like is the pain in the arse way of changing the default program, it's not letting me do it on program launch anymore and instead I've to trawl through the stupidly long list in the default programs panel.

I've had a few issues doing an upgrade but keeping nothing (no docs, no apps). I've had the black screen after install which was fixed by disconnecting my second monitor and rebooting. The default driver for my wifi card (Asus PCE-N53) does not work even though Asus have said no driver is required as the Windows 10 one works - yeah right. It's always been a trouble device to be honest and took them a while get get a fix for Win8.1 released when it first came out. I'm going to try the entire upgrade again (another 3 hours just to download 10) and write to a USB stick this time and try an upgrade keeping apps after installing Win8.1 again and installing the wifi card driver - I'm hoping if I upgrade keeping apps/settings it Win 10 will continue to use the driver installed under Win8.1. If not, it's back to the drawing board.
Note that I'm not blaming MS for this - even under Windows 8.1 the wifi card was a nightmare to get working. I have to remember to install win 8.1 with the card removed then install driver then install card otherwise it will never work fully (detects routers but cannot connect - daft thing).
Might just pcik up a TPLink USB wifi device if it doesn't work next time. I should have wrote the install files to USB but thought "nah, it will work". With a 2Mb max connection downloading Win10 again takes time :(

Had a really bizarre issue after updating my sound drivers to the latest Windows 10 ones.

Made the left side audio louder than the right using either speakers or headphones. Took the driver off for a default windows one and it goes back normal.

Had to roll back to 8.1 then upgrade to 10 again to fix it whilst keeping the drivers which appear to be newer than the ones listed on Asus site.

Hmmm I don't have issue when I had 50 Edge tabs opened and Chrome opened too both in full screen on 16GB RAM.

How much memory do you have?

Weirdly all my hard drives apart from my SSDs stopped showing this morning. Had to reboot several times with them disconnected and connected for them to show. And on one of the boot ups with just my SSDs Windows froze starting up.

Can anyone answer me this..

I have stayed on the Insider Program (still dual booting 7 & 10) but since the release date of 10, i have noticed this $Windows.~WS folder appear in my C drive of Win 10, am i ok to delete this?

Thanks.

Apparently its made when you use the upgrade tool to create media. Did you run that tool? :) If so i think you can delete it.

I'm happy to say mine upgraded fine and all seems well. I was using the insider version. Question for you, I've been using Firefox for years, is it better now to ditch it for the new windows browser?

I haven't upgraded yet but can someone explain what I need to do with the Nvidia drivers for a smooth install? Should I uninstall the drivers before upgrading? I'm using the 353.30 drivers.

I did nothing, once you upgrade it will just look for newer ones (if you keep your programs) if you dont it will just install the newist from update.

Yet to do a full clean. I may do it in the next day or 2. Everything working great at the moment so bit nervous of doing it.

My PC no longer shows in My Devices in my Microsoft Account, last night it was showing as My PC W10 Home Gigabyte, now just my phone, no option to add a PC just a Surface or Xbox

Could this be why its not activating?

Ive have done both my Lenovo Z70 laptop, and my Surface PRO with no issues. Only issue was using the wrong version from the MS media creation tool. If you doi this, it asks for a product key! Took awhile . . . .
