In build 14316, whoever thought that changing the lock screen to require you to press "K" to lock rather than the enter key should be shot.

Having a lot of problems with the start menu in 14316. Had a few instances of it stop responding for 30+ seconds but one of my VM installs after awhile it opens but clicking on anything does nothing at all and its permanently hosed til I reinstall (just had it happen for the second time).

The Insider Builds are licensed very separately from Windows 10 proper. Theres different terms to the support of it too. I've been running my PC on Insider builds for ~18 months and will continue to for as long as I can.

Me too, running two insider builds and one retail. I'll probably keep running insider builds on my laptop until it dies, then just get a new laptop with 10 pro...

The Insider system is a great idea. For those that are happy to take the risk of running pre-release software they are rewarded with "free" licenses, and in return Microsoft get millions of testers.

Considering that I've probably spent more time running Previews (from back in the Vista leaked Beta days) on my main PC than I have public releases, its a risk I'm happy to take.

Windows 10's DVR feature... I'll swear the Video Encoding options have changed?

You now have:-
Video quality: Standard/High
Video resolution: Standard/High

Any idea what each of these options actually set/do?

FYI anyone on W10 Previews who uses Xbox 360 or One controllers, the drivers in the Previews are broke and will cause stutter in games.

You can fix it by downloading the Windows 7 drivers from the Microsoft site and installing them, and then in Device Manager click on Properties for the controller/wireless receiver and select to manually chose the driver. Select the Windows 7 one from 2009 and all should be good.

This happened to me, only fix I found was a fresh reinstall :mad:

On other versions of Windows, this can indicate that the disk is full.

Before you try that, is the PC on a domain? If so, try taking it off the domain or logging in with a local admin account. If not, try switching to a different workgroup.

Insider Program - you Alpha test it
Normal - everyone Beta tests it
