Windows 7 Experience Index

Out of interest, the guys with the low HD scores, are you dual booting?

I have installed Windows7 on a 60 gig partition at the end of my Primary drive. The first 170 gig or so is my XP system. I wonder if that is a factor.

Yes.

I have it installed with Bootcamp on a MacBook Pro so it is the 3rd or 4th partition. Disk is a 200GB Serial ATA @ 7200 rpm. I also noticed other people on Apple forums with Windows 7 on laptops get exactly 2.9. Bizarre.

Will post rest of scores later, but HDD was 2.9 definitely (ran test twice before defrag and twice after. In device manager Disk caching is enabled, I don't know if there is any other specific SATA settings etc anywhere?)

Defrag! Mine was low, now it's sort of highish.

I did, sadly made no difference, still 2.9

2.9 on my hard drive, seagate barracuda. Weird.

got the same got a 250gb seagate. wonder if it due to the fact i've dualbooted?

got it running on my NC10 notebook

scores are

2.2
4.4
2.3
3.0
2.9

not bad for the net book with standard ram etc.

Strange that i got 6.0, with no raid and only an old IDE 500GB as my main drive. (480gb was free)

I also have 1TB SATA F1 and 80GB IDE inside the computer, also a 4gb usb stick which is set up dedicated to readyboost.

Processor 6.8
RAM 5.9
Graphics 7.9
Gaming 6.5
Hard Drive 5.9

It seems quite a low score for 2x Sammy 500GB F1 in RAID0 considering some of the same drives are giving this score on their own.

Mate of mine got 6.4 for Hard Drive speed.

That's with a OCZ SSD 120gb V1.

You have to go into Device Manager and Untick Write Caching otherwise he scored 1.9 lol

Just installed x64 version on a spare hd to play with. Intel chipset drivers installed withot issue. X-Fi drivers just needed vista compatablity mode, working fine. Windows7 ATI Offical x64 beta driver doesnt work (same issue as 8.12 3800 + 8gig issue I guess) so just using microsoft driver atm.

Processor: 7.4 (Q6600 @ 3600 9x400)
Memory : 7.4 (4-4-4-12 Perflevel8 DDR800)
Graphics : 7.9 (Radeon 3800 - Stock - ms driver)
Gaming : 6.3
HD Performance : 6.0 (Seagate sata2 7200.10 320gb)

EDIT: Disabling Write Caching as Shaddow mentions seems to have braught the hd score back inline (was 3.0)

That's very close to my system ; I have Q6600@ 3600 , I wonder why my memory is only scoring 5.9..

4gb - OCZ DDR2 PC6400 4096MB KIT, Reaper HPC, 2x2GB, Heat Pipe,
(CL4-4-4-15)

I think I changed the multiplier so that it was running at stock 800 otherwise it was something >1100 which did not work.

MadMatty can you confirm what speed your memory is running @?

or is it the end timing difference 4-4-4-15 vs 4-4-4-12

Thanks
