Windows 7 Experience Index

My system is deffinatly running as shown. 400 fsb 1:1 (DDR800) 4-4-4-12. Ram is running in spec , im not overclocking them. Perhaps ammount of memory contributes to the score not just access speed. (8gb Corsair Dominator 6400 C4 xms2 4x2048)

I think you might be right; and I think maybe the %space free/ size on HD is a factor too (probably to a lesser extent)

I wonder if there an any definate rules set out by MS?

The windows rating system isnt anything to go by, my brother has a Core i7 965 (watercooled) @ 5GHZ, 6GB DDR3 Dominator 2000MHz and 3 X GTX 280 in tri sli, he only gets 4.9 on all scores in the W7 beta and 5.4 in vista, so in other words dont go by the rating use 3dmark vantage for a trustworthy source.

*FIXED*

I'm guessing that will be due to his hard drive, then.

If you mean three cards then that's blatantly a lie. You can't get GTX 295 in Tri Sli?

Sorry, meant GTX 280, i have a bad habbit of typing what i hear and my bro was talking about the new 295's as i was typing this :p lol
But anyway, is that true about the 295's, no tri sli ? kind of a shame :(

Ah Ok, fair enough then. :)

The 295 is basically TWO 280's 65nm slapped togather, I believe you can only use Quad SLI at the moment which is TWO 295 cards.

Can you imagine tri SLI, the power of SIX 280's overclocked :o

I havent run the experience rating on my comp yet as i havent installed and dont plan to after seeing it in action, but this rating was taken from my brothers system which is made up of the following--

Core I7 965 @ 5GHZ
Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58
6GB DDR3 Dominator 2000MHz
3 x GTX 280's in Tri SLI
2 x Velociraptor's in Raid 0

and this is the overall system rating--

Now is it me or should that score be a little bit higher ??? has to be a driver issue or something right ?

this is mine:

ram is OCZ Plat. Rev2 stuff.

primary HDD is a 65GB partition of a 500GB Seagate 7200.11.

These new i7's dont seem to be what they were cracked up to be . I think I will skip a generation and go with the i8's LOL.

That CPU score is too low. My Q6600 got 7.1.

Other than that, I just think that it's designed to be ready for future hardware. What would be the point in having the index if a decent system could max it out ages before 7 was even released? For instance, I reckon you need an SSD to get a better HD score. SSDs are gonna be big during 7's lifetime, so it wouldn't make sense if you could max it out using mechanical HDs.

True, still seems a little high, but I suppose it does run everything well on the desktop front. Seems a little silly and pointless having the desktop one when there is the graphics one. If you get a half decent graphics score the desktop one will be much better.

Apple iMac 2.8 c2d, 4gb 800mhz ram, 320gb hdd, ati HD2600XT
Processor 6.4
Ram 5.9
Graphics 6.1
Gaming 5.0
HDD 5.8

i'm quite happy with that!
