8.1 is great.
Less clicks to get where you want.
The addition of the right click menu on the start button make a huge difference.

For mine for £15 last year bargain tastic

Same. Bought a couple of licences back then too to run a couple of htpcs. Wish I'd bought another one or two.

Windows 8 works brilliantly with a htpc, can use my logitech remote to navigate the metro tiles and boot up netflix/mediaportal or whatever. I couldn't get used to it for my main rig so will stick with 7 thanks especially if it'll cost me much more now to upgrade.

Had Win8 for one week.
On 7th day I lost patience to it being completely incompatible with any software I used with Win 7.
Format c:
Installed Win7 again and thrown Win8 instalation disk to the closet. Its still there, under pile of boxes and staying for good.

Anyone with an 8 or 8.1 upgrade they don't want?! ;)

I also need a link to an 8.1 redistributable, MS released ISO's for 8 but have not done so yet for 8.1 to the 'public'. I have a couple of users who'll want to upgrade from 8 - One has a monthly download limit of 2gb, another is on Dialup still... :o

My MSDN sub has expired (got it heavily discounted for my MCSE, won't be paying full price and not required in my current job).

Been using it for a few weeks now, I hated 8 so much that I must have formatted this PC about 5 time swapping between 8 and 7. BF4 made me try 8.1 as I had the ISO through technet and tbh would not go back to 7 now.

I have it setup to load to desktop so very rarely see Metro :)
