Windows 8 Adoption Poor

no it would be far less confusing for none technical people Having it look the same on any device..

my mum is a none technical person and she would prefer the layout/UI to be the same on any device.. that way she'll only need to lean once then apply it to any device.

So, someone buys an RT product, and goes to install x86 software and then finds out he can't, don't you think that's down to this product looking the same as their x86 laptop/desktop etc?

It does confuse people, as they don't know the technical differences.

I mean, you've just proved my point, your mother, given the products look the same would try and use them the same.

a none technical people wouldn't know how to install software. my mum doesn't. so you point still fails

if a laptop/desktop/tablet ect has been setup already they can easyly go from each device.

You're kidding right?

They know how to install software, they just click next (Which is why we usually get people with browsers full of crap)
Are you literally grasping at straws as opposed conceding a valid point?

Loads of my friends, wouldn't be able to tell the difference between RT and Windows 8, they'd buy an RT tablet and expect to install their software as normal.

EDIT : I'm actually really confused as to why you'd stoop so low with an answer like that.

The vast majority of people aren't what I'd class as technical people, but I'm sure those many hundreds of millions of people using MSN all know how to install software.

no. my mum didn't know how. shes in her late 50's.

Well, this is going no where.
You're just grasping at straws now.

I'm not in a unique position, but being 21 and growing up with computers, the majority of people who alongside me are useless with them, but they can still install software, I mean I witness my friends mess up their computers enough.

To suggest people can't install software, then make a sarcastic comment about seeing what everybody else can do, truly ridiculous.

you are too.

theres no way u can know if those 100's of millions of none technically minded can do or can't do. u don't truthful know if even half of them can install software by themselfs.. it's just guessing

i wasn't meaning all none technically minded can't do it. but the older gen of people wouldn't or find it very confusing. the younger gen of people have growup with computers around them, so of course it'll be easy for them

You say this exactly ;

a none technical people wouldn't know how to install software. my mum doesn't. so you point still fails

End of the day, people do buy RT expecting to install their X86 software on, not knowing the differences, and that's down to them looking bang on the same, if you spend time looking at listing of them/sales/return reasons, you'll see it happening.

So yes, it does confuse people, it's irrefutable.

Obviously I find it easier then you when it comes to thought and change etc..you are so rigid in thought you can't see past Win8,as to your Win9 remark I will use whatever Microsoft throw at me regardless as long as its stable and has features I need,I could say same thing about my next Linux OS as well but hey you think Win8 is the only OS I use going by your remarks.

Want to take a dig at my Android OS devices as well?..thought not  .

I'm sure he'll be whinging in this thread or another Windows 8 discussion about our remarks as fanbois. As he always does.

if your happy with the os your already have/using why upgrade and moan? MS are not forcing people to upgrade to win8.

also nobody have answered to this yet > even if MS didn't change the UI there will still be people moaning about something else about the os, right? so either way there will always be this with people. so if MS listened to every single moan ect there will be no change / improvements really.

If you have a tablet running RT, then you wouldn't be wanting to install x86 software. Its common to associate a tablet with an app store (see android/iOS tablets).

A laptop/desktop will have full fat windows 8 on, otherwise, its been setup by someone with half a brain.

Even normal non techy people will realise theres an app store for a tablet.

They aren't and that's the point of the thread, it doesn't stop those who have used it being able to comment on why they went back to Windows 7.

Whereas before MS were only failing in the tablet/touchscreen market now they're failing in the desktop market as well, they should have kept their desktop base happy whilst trying to grab market share in the portable arena... all they've done is annoyed desktop users to the extent that if they do upgrade to a tablet will avoid Microsoft like the plague.
