Windows 8 Consumer Preview Thread

I am about to build a new system, I do have Windows 7 64bit Home Edition, I am contemplating switching to Windows 8, do all games work without any problems?

I was going to start a new thread in the PC Games section, but thought I would ask here first.

So far as I know most games work fine. You would probably be best to specify which ones are important to you, though, just to make sure.

What will you do, by the way - install Windows 7 and upgrade? That way the cost is just £25.

Too many to list really, I think I'll just buy it anyway, I'm sure their will be fixes for any games that don't wortk straight away eventually, and all new game releases will hopefully be compatable.

I've always bought a new versions i.e. XP, Vista and Win 7. I was going to buy a retail version of Windows 8.

Seems easy enough to get an RTM version, then all I do is activate it when it's fully released in October, saves me messing about.

Thought of this myself .... I wonder if it's possible to upgrade preview to RTM ?

Might just wait for official and go for a fresh install
Preview version is not upgradeable, you need a fresh install of the RTM version.

I think I'll just install the RTM (9200) version anyway, it's floating around the web like wildfire, then I'll buy RTM once it's officially released in October, it will have an activation period anyway and save me messing about.

Changed my mind, I'll wait 3 months before purchasing Windows 8, all the gaming bugs and other software bugs should be ironed out by then, after the complaints from new users of Windows 8 next month. :)

People that that said Win8 fixed the issue with regards to remembering window positions lied

Just testing win8 via vmware and it only remembers the size and position of the 'last' file explorer window open and proceeds to open any new windows in the same position and size of your last window rather than remembering thier size and position independently which is stupid just like win7, this is a real pain for multi-monitor set-ups when you want to open folder windows on different screens by default, winxp never had this problem.
