Windows Live Beta 3

I used to show all my contacts names email addresses instead of showing their display names. But I can;t find out how to set that option in this new version. Any ideas?

Started getting all sorts of strange people adding me, uninstalled gone back to older version!

Interestingly, so have I... had about half a dozen random people add me since installing it (all of whom have been female, curiously.) All of them have email addresses which are simply their full name, and all of them have Eastern European-sounding surnames. I thought it was unrelated but now I'm not so sure!

Could anyone post some screenshots of their WLM? Obviously with the nitty gritty edited out.

Here's a few. Let me know if you're looking for something specific.

Cheers man. Crikey - could they have used a BIGGER font? Can't even see your personal message/titles because they're truncated :/ Everything is just too spaced out even morso now so it takes up even more screenspace.

do you need to see your own? :p im not bothered about being able to read mine, but it does look a little messy. its a beta afterall

only problem, i have with the main window, really, is that they could have spaced the contacts closer together when using the small thumbnails. its a minor really though. without the thumbnails its much the same as any other msn, but it looks freshers.

You can also display contacts without their display picture...

Or even make the display pictures even bigger if you really wanted to.

I don't remember that one. I remember the green one (unless that was still MSN), that was an awful release. Then they released another Beta with nicer colours that was far more stable.
That prolly was the green one because it sounds familiar. I see a paintbucket icon on WLM in my screenshot so I could have just changed the colours. Can't remember that far back lol

After installing it and removing the ads and a lot of the other clutter, it's not too bad. Also something I noticed when I was in game the style of WLM changed.

I have dual monitors and WLM on the other to my game, so when I was in game and the theme was changed to Vista Basic I realised the buttons then became part of the WLM list and message windows rather than being in the standard theme 'frame' if you like. If you're running Vista, change your theme to Vista Basic or the Basic version of your custom theme, if you're running one, and see what I mean.

There is now a version of apatch (1.42 (build 3)) which works with build 14.0.5027.0908, which has most of the options enabled:-

A-Patch for Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave 3 Released! Praise be to God.

I'd like to thank TheSteve and also give shoutouts to Willz, Ipab, TB & Matt Hollwood for working on the "protection" work-around, now we finally go back to customizing Messenger like we used to!

So after 8 hours straight updating A-Patch for Windows Live Messenger 9 version 14.0.5027.0908, with no further adue I can finally bring you A-Patch with a whopping 56 options to play with! Some options were removed because it seems that the Messenger team implemented them ;) And some more options will be added in future builds God-Willing, including the "Preview"!

I've been getting this for a while now, but now it's increased tenfold. They all seem to have the same avatar (webcam pic).

Oooh yeah, I see what you mean. I actually like the style of the basic version more. If only the normal one was like that, but with some Vista transparency.

Does anyone else find that clicking the icon to open your hotmail directs you to the msn homepage instead of the hotmail login page?
