I was watching that 100 days show on BBC News channel not long ago. When it came to the weather, they was showing the conditions in other european countries . Makes what we have look like a light covering.

We've had 30cm fall here overnight and it's still snowing. Everyone is still going to work as usual though, no excuses here.

Yep, can concur, white in West End Southampton but the main dump isnt due till around midday. Then looks like a good 12 hours of snow.

The end of the world is near, white stuff has stuck to the roads in Bitterne overnight! ;)

-5C out there before wind chill, so lucky that I'm now on annual leave until Monday 12th and so glad we didn't risk an early visit to Center Parcs.

In the delightful Lordshill It's settled too, just about. Ive been told I can work at home if needed but the Motorway and main roads looks clear tbh. Although don't want to get stuck in segensworth if the main snowfall happens at mid day

Despite the worsening weather than that which saw me sent home yesterday. I'm supposed to be at work today :p

I'll walk there and end up in an empty building.
Oh well.

Work closed and none of us would make the drive in with how the roads currently are, schools are still closed here, hopefully it stops at some point today and begins clearing up.

Having just got a house a few months ago that needed a lot of work. I have central heating now fitted but no gas for months to use it. One room is toasty thanks to a fan heater. Rest of the house is erm quite cold.

Can't find any of my coats, hats or gloves either. :(

Same worry as me, I'm going to work in Segensworth for 11.45 until 8.30, I REALLY don't want to get stuck there. If it keeps coming down at this rate then the main roads will be fine I think.

Just seen that we've been upgraded to a red weather alert here.

Snow is falling pretty fast and it looks like the gritters have given up the battle on my road now

So we woke up to this

woke up cold at 5am, turns out the boiler broke around midnight, its a new one i only had it fitted last week :(
they should be here any minute to take a look for me, boiler shows error code 28 which after a good search suggests that the flue thermistor has gone

So we woke up to this

It looks pretty similar here about 4 miles north of Manchester city centre. The wind has really picked up it is whipping snow around making it look even more dramatic. We have about 6 inches of settled snow in most parts and the past few days snowfall hasn't been able to melt.

We seem to be nowhere near any amber or red weather warnings so I can only.imagine how bad it is in some places.

Not terrible here, but it's forecast to get worse. At the end of the day I work an office job and am fully able to work from home without affecting my job. So not point risking leaving and not being able to get home.

That and I drive an MX-5, so unless its quiet and I can literally go for a spin I ain't risking having some Range Rover glued to my bumper who then finds out the hard way that AWD doesn't magically improve your brakes or the fact you still have summer tyres on.

Wind in East Lancs has causes drifts over the roads. This is the Padiham bypass with a car that's unfortunately hit a drift and become stuck, it looks like it's off the road but that's actually the middle of the other side. My office is open although pretty much all the schools are closed. About 10 people here as opposed to the usual 300+

Odds are there was a touch too much moisture in the exhaust flue and that's now frozen, blocking it up. If you can get access, gently warming it with a hairdryer should provide a temporary fix
