Our work isn't called off tomorrow but then we haven't had it bad really, at all.

I'll just wake up tomorrow and see how well I can get out of my road, go from there

Point proven.

Whenever I hear ‘red alert’ on the weather/news at the moment I imagine it in Riker’s voice from TNG.
Not a point at all. Driving in a straight line over wet roads that have been salted is easy. If your careful with your gears and acceleration then snow driving isnti this mega issues people make it out to be. The problem is huge gradients that require snow tyres. I did 35miles today in a half a foot, yet some moan about a mile or two, just cause they want to get a day off. Well if you can't beat them....

Its really weird how patchy it is with the drifting, etc. behind one parked car its built up to around 2 feet, the next car (neither of them have been moved, etc.) has an area of clear road and only about 3inches around it.

That's the moisture levels. Sounds mad because it's water, but until it melts a bit it won't stick together.

Also why it is drifting so much. Feels like living in Michigan with the lake effect snow and it all blowing around in the wind.

Looks like the snow is back on for us tomorrow. Need to MOT the car on Saturday!

I might be wrong but I think a lot of this is basically similar to lake effect snow having been pulled up over the channel or North Sea depending on where you live.

Still snowing here in central Somerset. Started properly about 2ish and now we've got at least 6 inches of snow. Most I've ever seen here.

Yeah starting to surpass 2009 levels now - the only time I've seen more here was like a couple of winters in the 80s/90s - though I think it is going to be shorter lived than some times in the past :(

Not old enough to remember the 78 and 62/63 winters heh.

Some will have kids whose schools are closed. It's boring having to listen to the hilarious jibes of 'funny' idiots at work that are incapable of seeing past their own nose to others' personal circumstances.

We're up to 6 inches here now but I'm hearing that people nearby are getting close to a foot deep.

The weather radar is saying there's some heavy stuff still to come too

It's pretty bad in Cardiff, but it's not heavy snow, just the dry powdery stuff.

If the office isnt closed tomorrow I'll be disappointed, knowing my work we won't know until we get there.

The same happened with the managers where I’m currently working, rather than call the staff to let them know they didn’t have to come in, they waited until they got here and then told them to leave.

Can look at it both ways though, they should have called to see what the situation was.

Just came home can anyone tell me what breed of dog this is?

Problem is depending on how your company does things technically if you call in to say you can't make it = no obligation to pay you, if they tell you to not come in then they usually have to pay you for the day. It caught my colleague out a few years back :s
