I posted an hour or so ago saying we've had no snow here. But me being the doofus that I am, I hadn't opened my curtains to look and see. We have about 2 inches of the stuff. Must have come down sometime after 1am as that was when I closed my curtains and went to bed. Doh !
:D:D:D

The forecast last night said we may wake up to a light dusting this morning. Try 3 inches!! Very fine powdery stuff too. The main band isn't supposed to hit us until tomorrow. I hope it's not too bad because we are supposed to be at Eden Court in Inverness tomorrow night to see the Classic Rock Show.

Here this morning:

(Worse now)

Just home from work, checking for the latest disappointment in the south. Was half expecting the light snow that was forecast from yesterday to have been downgraded to sleet, looks like it's going the other way again now. Amber warnings and prolonged snow is the forecast for Thursday and Friday now for a mile or so down the road.

Could it finally happen in the south after so many years of not seeing anything. We've had snow showers yesterday and currently today, but they only last for 10 minutes then the sun is out again.

Good luck with that.

Scotland 'on cusp' of red extreme weather warning for snow
Scotland's transport minister has warned of potentiallly "extreme" weather conditions as heavy snow sweeps across the country later this week.

Humza Yousaf said the amber warnings in force for many areas for Wednesday and Thursday could be upgraded to red.

With the way our local newspaper has gone about this, it sounds like we would have become snowed in. When I woke up around 7/8, we had a little covering but the roads and paths cleared up rather quickly. Now it's just left in the garden and they are saying it's supposed to snow all day tomorrow... I'll believe that when I see it.

This winters forecasts have been pretty rubbish here.

It started snowing here in Prees about 5.00 this morning - stopped and gone by 12.00 - We went to Market Drayton to do shopping in blue sky and sun - came out with shopping to heavy snow and black skies - was almost white out on A41 - Now at 2.16 sun is out and blue skies again - wish it would make up it's mind

We now have snow on the rock.

Yes we finally got some in southampton..absolutely nailing it down, blizzard like :D:D

Yep, I work and live in Southampton and was expecting the usual rubbish then this started. Now stopped, sun out and melted which is a shame, as it means it's now too wet for it to settle unless it chucks it down heavily.

Hoping Thursday/Friday brings a huge amount as Southampton has been upgraded to amber now :)

EDIT: Noticed the Met Office have now changed Thursday to Overcast rather than snow :/

they still give snow on Thursday and Friday, its just happening in the afternoon and overnight rather than the morning.

I enjoy reading threads about British weather, I miss the quaintness of the discussions and the over reactions to minor fluctuations.

It's currently -15C with a real feel of -25C with the Siberian winds. A few weeks ago we had snow measuring in the meters and our summers are regularly above 35C. You can go up the local mountains though to get a nice 15C temperature drop whenever you want though.

I still like to talk about the weather though, I just deal in actual extremes now rather than minor variances.
