WINTER 2018/2019 - Chat thread!

Just started to flake here in Soton, not expecting the big heavy stuff till 7, but the good thing is it's bone dry and flipping freezing, should start to lay really quick as it looks thick on the forecast.......if that's accurate of course haha

Yeah, I've just driven home in it. A few flurries in Park Gate but progressively heavier the closer I got to home. Everyone driving like a **** on the M27. All sat in the middle lane doing 35 because of a little snow that hasn't even settled.

This gonna be good mate, already laying and proper coming down now in West End. No sleet, straight to heavy snow. You're fairly close to me if memory serves me good.

Loads of snow up this way. There was a rescue on Snowdon the other evening, some hill walkers were caught in an avalanche. Nothing too serious thankfully, just broken bones.

It's a bit brrr though, that's for sure.

Yeah, near the Two Brothers. It's settling here now, doesn't seem to be coming down that hard atm but worst will hit over the next few hours it seems.

Haha. Yeah stopped for like 45 minutes, it did come earlier than expected, possibly just an early shower. I think the heavy more prolonged is still to come.

Usually I'm buzzing for snow but I'm getting my wheels refurbed atm and I'm meant to be picking it up tomorrow! That may not happen.

Also took this week off work so that's a wasted day's holiday if everyone has a snow day :p

Back home ten miles east of the Welsh border and it's completely dry, can even see all the lights on the other side of the River Severn as clear as normal, so this is not looking good for a Friday snow day. For an area that was said to be getting a fair amount of snow on the news this morning it's a bit of a let down.

Stopped here in Southampton. I guess that's our great snow day done. Lol.

More on its way over I think - so far not much to speak of here (South Somerset) - been intermittent heavy snow and sleet/rain but not much settling. The news was reckoning we'd have 5-10cm of snow by midnight but I can't see that happening. It was cool, though marginal for snow, and dry earlier so I was expecting it to be a bit better.

Definitely settling here now but coming down fairly lightly, we might get a few cm on the ground but nothing more I doubt.

It's heavy in the wind at times but seems the flakes just aren't big enough to lay in decent amounts. The charts still showing it heaviest in the next 3 hours though

EDIT . Now it's started properly :D

Just had to crack my bin open its that cold outside, needed to dump food waste as I don't like it lying around.

Frost everywhere hope it dose not snow as it will stick like **** to a blanket.

Hottest it got today was 1c its now minus 1c and falling, everything is frozen I was going to walk over the lake in the park in which I live in but 1c and with my problems just nope, nope on so many levels.

Feel sorry for the ducks a geese.

It's not cold enough to freeze lakes so you can walk over them, maybe next winter

Its not the lake its the bloody black ice everywhere, its all over the place here I will try and feed the ducks tomorrow but its brutal. One wrong move and you on your arse.
