Despite the time of year a lot of trees around here are quite full of leaves - could be interesting trying to get to work tomorrow afternoon :s

We're in Bristol, about 4 miles from the coast. I've put everything that can blow away into the garage, patio furniture is outside but hopefully will just move around a bit.

Looks like Eunice is going to arrive with a bang. 18mph winds forecast until 5am, then at 6am it's 45mph, increasing to 73mph at 8am.

The met office have put SE England including London under a red warning now

I’m in Sussex and just saw this come through. Pretty late notice and doesn’t give employers much time to prepare. I know our business would have likely had a different approach if this was announced late last night or early evening. Will be interesting to see how they and others now react.

The forecasts have only just started showing wind speeds picking up again in central areas as it passes through which is rare for this kind of setup - not sure what it is based on.

Sorry, are you saying you don’t know why they’ve issued the red warning?

Saying I'm not sure what factors are causing this change in how it is being modelled as it passes over the country (and hence the east upgraded to a red) - usually a storm like this tends to be far reduced as it passes over the central areas and east compared to initial land fall. Why they are now showing it picking up again over those areas I'm not sure.

Is Eunice going to live up to the '87 storm that made Seven Oaks six, which I don't recall being much at all in Wirral where I was living as a teen at the time?

Fortunately I'm not at work this weekend, this late red warning for the south east could cause havoc for many workers today!

keeping an eye on things ,standard sort of strong wind that i expect at the moment but still a while before it hits properly ,expecting a few of the routes out of the village to be blocked by trees

Don't remember much about it being ~6 at the time but I do remember the house across the road from where I was living then towards the end of the storm all the pebble dash rendering on one side of it came down in a rapid cascade failure and spread all over the road.

My other half has just left for work, she works in Hamble and it's always breezy down there as they're right next to the river. Really didn't want her going out in this :(

Glad I'm not working until the afternoon - if it comes in anything like it is looking gonna be some trees down along my route to work.

Though it hasn't really picked up... yet... anything like what it looks like on the BBC forecast for this hour.

The late red warning hasn't helped, but employers should be giving people the day off for extreme weather like this, as much as most will travel to and from work absolutely fine.

The local danger zone to avoid is Cobden Avenue, we've had two trees fall on the road over the last couple of years iirc!

Looks like some companies are delaying deliveries, etc. hopefully more do as if things pan out as it is looking it would be risky on the roads through the morning.

That doesn't surprise me! I'm expecting trees to come down on West end road going out of the village, usually do when it gets to 60ish mph so if 90 is expected then it's going to be chaos.

Have to say so far it hasn't picked up as much as I'd have thought - usually when the BBC is showing upper 40s on their forecast it comes in pretty hard here - 58 on the BBC for this hour and it is only moderately blustery - though it goes to 80 around 8 which will be interesting.

I was all set for this last night, all garden furniture stowed away, even moved my girlfriend's car off the drive away from the house just in case of errant roof tiles. Fully expected to be woken in the early hours, but nothing. Woke up about half an hour ago and it's just a bit breezy. Quite relived until I checked the met office and it turns out I'm now on a red zone :o

Haven't got to go out as I work from home. But it is bin day today... that's going to be interesting :D
