Yeah so far despite supposedly 60 MPH gusts here at this point it is more like half that at the moment.

EDIT: Good guess on my part - the nearest weather station has recorded a peak of 32.2MPH so far.

The farmers are out in force battening down the hatches though.

EDIT2: Arpege model is showing the winds getting up about 2 hours later than the BBC forecast and Met is showing it not really getting up here until nearer 10 as well.

Not very windy so far on the south coast.

Getting strong winds in Surrey although we're probably slipstreaming behind the geography, places on the tops of the downs and hogsback for example are probably really feeling the wind.

I have one of the fences lashed and I may lash the bins too. Also the 150mm cooker extractor vent flaps may get some gorilla tape to stop them rattling to destruction.

Where are you checking wind speed? BBC app saying 66mph here...

To be fair most forecasts don't really show it hitting proper until later in the morning/mid-day - the BBC forecast seems to jump the gun a bit in ramping it up earlier (at least for where I am).

It seems fine out here currently, wind usually freaks the dog out but he's alright. Looks like 10am is the time to batten down the hatches!

Our neighbours fence is gonna go if it gets up - it has just detached from their side gate at one point in the barely blustery wind we have now...

my met office forecast only showing 64 mph peak gusts, seems nearer to what we are getting here ,so far anyway
I was expecting this veiw to be white with sea foam tbh

This isn't even ss bad as dudley.
