Will admit started to feel chilly about 2am before going bed, was down to 16.8C then, was 14.5C when waking up in morning and after all day its now 15.7C. Still not cold enough for heating though. Just cold enough to not sweat on physical activity.

Definitely a bit chillier. House holding at 16-17C with just an hour of heating on half the upstairs radiators every morning. Warm as hell under the duvet even without extra blankets etc. Front of the upstairs lovely and warm after a good gaming session.

Main bedroom was getting damp, so extractor fan is on each day and air con set to dry the air for a few hours. All moisture has gone at least.

I’ve turned the downstairs heating onto 10C just in case we get a sudden colder snap.

At the moment just using the heat from my dehumidifier to warm my gym. I’d usually have the heat on by now. Will probably just rely on warmer clothes and proceeding through my workout more quickly.

how is that possible. I am sat in my home office and thermo says 17c but i am absolutely freezing with 3 thick layers on too. I cant feel my hands or toes

Anything under 20*C and the heating comes on.
I tend it have it on for around 3/4 a day at the moment.

I value my comfort over money saved
And obviously lucky that you can afford to do that. There'll be people not putting their heating on at all this winter, no matter how cold it goes.

Quite proud of how well we've held out this year. House was 15.2 degrees earlier and it was becoming too much so it's been put on. :(
We leak so much cold through our windows. Lots of the hinges have gone so the hinge side has a little air gap. They are double glazed, but 1999 double glazed and just need new hinges and seals I think.

In preperation for winter I have prepared a thread ready for you lot to moan.

Welcome to the it's too cold thread. Now lets all complain about been cold and what's happening this winter.

:D

It's not that cold in Britain you wimps lol  you clearly haven't lived in Northern China Harbin in the winter months. It's an average of -36ºF (-38ºC) there no grit trucks for the roads the working people help clear the roads, shops\businesses staff clean the pavements outside their premises they work together with just a population of 6,666,000 people. Harbin Ice and Snow Festival it's a technicolour wonders, also Yakutia, republic of Russia the coldest inhabited region on Earth with the lowest recorded temperature -71°C (-95°F) and the average winter temperature -50°C (-58°F) a population of roughly 1 million:p

Been working out of my shed/home office which is fairly solid timber construction but it's NOT insulated (future job next year maybe). It's colder than the house obviously so probably got down into the 14s over the last week from time to time. I can do it layered up but it's pretty grim for just being on a computer sitting there. Hands get very cold and slow quickly. Last year I used an electric oil heater in there for quick blasts for half hour at a time but I can't afford that now as it's such an expensive way to heat a single room. So in a week or two when it's become unfeasible I'll shift to working in doors until spring. I don't really mind it, just means I give up my massive super wide screen for productivity.
