Winter 2022/23 - It's too cold :(

I think we've had it on 3 times since summer ended - though a couple of nights recently it was just about getting cold enough it wouldn't have gone amiss.

Second half of November some hints of more seasonal temperatures however.

Not turned the heating on once but its been chilly enough a few times. Its back to unreasonable mild temperature soon infact could break temperature records again for the warmest nighttime temperatures in november this time. Its certainly far warmer than it used to be the biggest news however is the rain this week and last its been raining cats and dogs after six months of near drought suddenly its flipped to almost constant rain with a few "off" hours inbetween. It absolutely tipped it down this evening resulting in minor flooding it was even jetting up out of the drains, havn't seen that in years.

Rain here has been heavy but intermittent - get flash floods which are as bad as anything I've seen but disappear just as quickly - probably due to how dry the ground has been.

I walked out the backdoor at work yesterday at one point straight into rain as heavy as if it was coming from my shower! only lasted about 2 minutes but crazy intensity to it for rain - not like the big splodgy rainstorms you get sometimes was like streams of rain.

Some interesting stuff going on with the air over the arctic though - looks like the US in for an early taste of winter maybe, followed by a possible fairly rapid warm up - possible we'll see a fairly significant change here in December but whether unseasonably warm or cold I can't say.

EDIT: Oh and it seems to like making faces at us lately :(

Well my plant fleece is still unused and the banana plants still putting leaves out, grass growing, when we do eventually get a freeze it will be a big shock, i know our temperatures can vastly change depending on the wind direction but this is exceptionally mild

We've had our heating on a bit for a few weeks but my missus feels the cold so we usually stick it on at warm the living room to 19 in the evenings. I have been heating my office from 15 to 19 as well as you get very cold sitting still for hours with nothing but your fingers moving.

Our house is quite **** thermally though so once the cold weather comes the heating will have to be on a lot more. I need to do a bit of a search to find out where the droughts are coming from. Got some sealing tape coming today that should allow me to make the loft hatch a bit more airtight and I will have a look at anywhere else that air is getting in other than the air bricks.

Warm wind and a massive swell from those lows, even breaking on the doom bar, nice bit of sun, brought my beyerdynamics and dac/amp to do some beach listening later

Something I'm noticing in the weather models at the moment - there isn't a good flow from step to step as you advance time - stuff jumps around quite a bit rather than being able to clearly see an evolution.

My rooms about 17c but this can be made more comfortable with a quick blast, wonder how many say they are fine at 15c but as soon as they get in the car crank the heating up

Sure, the car and my workplace are the only warm places in my life and both cost me little to achieve that heat :)

Can only imagine how hot it’d be if we were getting the equivalent warm spell in the middle of summer. Very high temperatures for this time of year. Perfect winter for it to have been unseasonably warm so far, even by last November our heating was cranked up. Fingers crossed for it to remain mild.

I don’t remember a Remembrance Sunday when it rained during the parades. May have rained in the afternoon or evening.

Done 6 Remembrance Sunday parades as a Brownie and Guides. Some have been so cold. My final parade as a Brownie, my dress (Google 1980s Brownie uniform) was too tight to wear a vest under. There was a new uniform but my parents wouldn’t pay out for a new uniform as going to Guides in the new year.
