Winter 2023/24 - It's FREEZING!

You know, it's weird... I can sit this morning in the living room at 15oC no problem. But at night, doing the same thing, it feels cold... Not sure if it's psychological with the darker nights or something

No heating on here yet .. waiting for @bigmike20vt to tell me it's ok :p
I find low temps are far easier to adjust to than draughts. the house I grew up in with single glazed windows and gaps all over the place was pretty awful in winter. you could watch the curtains blowing on a breezy day.

19 C today. I've put a jumper on.

e: Seems my body has a very limited operational range. Anything above 23 C and I can't sleep; anything below 19 C and I'm shivering.

Shhh....if you say the V word 3 times in a row, certain forum members (I don't need to say who) will just pop up and start their propaganda :p:cry:

Edit - see, you've started them off

my next holiday on here will probably be permanent so i am zipping it
19 degrees in the room but i think it will drop off quite quickly, managed to get a mow in, still very wet grass though

No I meant is that what most people here consider cold too?

It's 21.7 in my room here according to my thermometer. I've been warmer but haven't had the heating on yet.
I have no idea what other people consider cold. Ask my wife she'd probably say 20c.
It's a nice 22c in the living at the minute still 16c in the rest of the house.

everyone is different. if I had my way I would set the heating to come one if it hit 18 degrees during the day.
I was outvoted however, the wife wanted 20 so we compromised at 19.

it's well insulated however so hasn't come on yet (it's set to 14 degrees overnight)

not saying this is correct or anything just what we do. according to our nest report we are in the bottom 20% of gas users (as in we use way less than average) for our area and that is with a gas heated shower which gets used twice a day on average.

How? Do you have 2ft of installation surrounding your entire house? :D

I spent a couple of weekends putting 100mm insulation under the suspended flooring, thermal underlay under the carpet, and we have a big bay window facing south.

7 degrees outside (real feel 4) in Leeds. 17.5 degrees in living room and I'm freezing but refuse to put the heating on in October. Also called off trip to the pub and going to play COD Beta instead. Going to be a long winter.

Incidentally Sky news saying wholesale gas price has gone through the roof due to war in middle east and the ofgem cap rates are due to go up in January anyway, so I'm wondering if it might be worth fixing the rate for 12 months with octopus flexible (currently paying 26.52p elec, 6.82p gas)

Its gone from 19c to 9c in the space of a day pretty much. Infact so much I've had to shut the windows and even put away the shorts!

If you count cold as below 18c (indoors) like i do, then yes it's cold.
Lol. 0c or below is freezing, under 10c is cold 10-15c is chilly, 15-20 is cool, 20-25c is warm, 25+ is very warm, 30+ is TOO BLOODY HOT!
