There's appears to be a quite a lot of power outages in Scotland right now, according to Power Track. If you live in Scotland, I hope you charged your phones, torches and power banks.

This popped up in my YT recommendations but last time I checked the setup this year still has the 78/79 winter as closest analogue:

Just seen an old boy that goes to the football getting rescued on the BBC news.. certainly looks a bit grim at the bottom end of town.

SEPA level gauge has 0.3m above the previous record.

Probably sounds about right. Not a great deal of rain just now but it's steady. The winds fair gusting though so it'll be an interesting walk to work. I'll probably have to take a detour cos I know I pass a flooding spot and I'll be crossing a road that usually gets loads of field water run off so it turns into a river. Doesn't help that the drains get choked with leaves as well though.

Edit

Webcam albeit the broadband a been down for 3hrs showing one of the local rivers significantly higher than it usually is

Edit edit

Time lapse from the above river just about 6 miles from me

How anyone can like winter in the UK I have no idea.

I get people don't like 30c.. (even though I still think you're crazy! :D. )
But this? This is our Autumn/Winter now.

It doesn't really get cold much. Gone is the cold crisp dry mornings we used to get. This damp, cold, dingy weather is the norm.

November December and January are my least favourite months of the year.

Never in a million years will this winter be like that. Just doesn’t happen anymore

The older I get the more I hate the cold. But a brief spell of snow to go play in with the kids is great. Also light snow at Christmas is magical... *cough* so the kids tell me :)

I know this is cheesy, but the reason we love the summer sun soo much is because we do have awful weather a lot of the time. If it was non stop sun, we'd be bored of it.

Unlikely to be like that, but so far following a similar pattern, so potentially could see it turn out to be one of the colder winters in recent history if it continues a similar pattern.

Come to watch a long period swell , some 12 ft sets coming in , so much power there
Mist burning off nicely ,the paddle to get outback looks insanely long so I may stay a spectator and chill in the sun

Sky news:
Angus is in the middle of a "very serious emergency", the council has said, with rescue crews taking 100 calls from areas asked to evacuate yesterday.

Parts of Brechin and increasingly other areas in the local authority "are now only accessible via boat", it said in a statement.

Scotland's First Minister Humza Yousaf said he "cannot stress how dangerous condition are in Brechin", adding that he expects the situation to worsen.

The council asked bosses to consider not making residents attend work, with flooding levels half a metre above the highest ever recorded in the area.

"Angus is in the middle of a very serious emergency. Flooding is unprecedented," said the council.

"If you think you are in danger of flooding, please don't leave it too late."

Rivers have risen 4.4 metres above normal levels, according to the council.
