Looks like we have been upgraded to an amber warning of wind, come for a mooch to see the waves build, did some high ladder work yesterday before the winds to fix the soffit that came away enough to let birds in (obviously I waited until they were gone)

Islanders told to stay at home as storm approaches

Guernsey is set to be battered by the strongest winds ever recorded in the island tomorrow morning, as Storm Ciaran arrives.

A red weather warning – the highest level – is in force, as violent storm force 11 winds, topping 100mph, are due to hit the island.

A rare severe flood warning has also been issued for the morning’s high tide just before 9am. Low-lying west coast areas are expected to experience extensive flooding.

Supermarkets, schools, the airport and many shops are closed tomorrow morning, and all harbour sailings are cancelled.

All post offices are shut and there will be no mail delivery or collections.

All refuse collections have been cancelled on Wednesday night and many States buildings, like Edward T Wheadon and Frossard House, will be closed on Thursday.

I'm on South coast and at the moment it's dry with a slight breeze.
It feels like they've over exaggerated with the warnings, but time will tell. I think it'll hit us at 6am
We had a bit of mental rain at around 6pm but it seemed to come and go within 10 minutes. Wind hasn't been too bad here all day - the rain is the weird one. It rains like absolute hell for 10 minutes, then the sun comes out for 45 minutes before it starts all over again.

So far looks like the worst of it will mostly miss us, some of Cornwall and parts of the South East coast will get brushed by it but looks like for the most part the UK will be on the periphery of it. But you never know with storms like this, could evolve very differently as it hits the channel.

Pretty calm around the solent right now but going to ramp up fast according to the forecast.

Wind is beginning to pick up a bit here in Netley, though looks like the peak will be around 4am.

Bit worried about my roof. I'm told slate roofs only last around 100 years and my house is ~90 years old, some slid during the last storm :(

Still looking like we'll miss the worst of it here but where does get the brunt of it looks like they are gonna get hit pretty hard.
