Several power cuts just south of me for some reason - we've not had much wind yet, estimated fixes 14:30 to 18:00. Still OK here for now.

yeah just had a mini power cut so filled my flask up when it came back on, yes getting battered also ,its the roof i worry about although did the ridge tiles this year but its fair chattering , apart from my top picket fence (new posts last week) i am all bush hedging

Didn't think we'd had that much rain here, some intense squalls but brief, but people saying on Facebook there are cars stuck in flooding just down the main road.

As expected, much further south and so northern France and channel Islands took the battering overnight. Massive hail and a tornado in channel Islands and 120mph wind recorded in France. Still likely to get a bit windier in southern UK as the storm pulls away later but it shouldn't be too serious

Just seen the pictures - someone pulling cars out with a tractor - water is almost up to the top of the cars wheels - in places deeper than that. Couple of villages nearby impossible to get in or out unless you have a proper off-roader or tractor.

Didn't think we'd had anything like that amount come down, though the ground was still pretty saturated from the last few days.

It's calm here, no wind or rain.
The cushions are still on the garden swing, and the clothes horse in the garden hasn't moved.

Seems a lot of local schools have closed though

Where's this to?

58... :p
Have to keep active!
At 71, I feel a bit chilly now in the morning but a couple of miles on the bike and the blood begins to flow. Do a bit in the garden, aerating the lawn, picking up leaves etc. Then I can relax a bit in the afternoon feeling warmer.

Tracked a lot further South than they had forecasted in the end, met office have lifted the amber alerts here now. Just a breezy day now. Bet they regret closing all the schools.

Closing the schools made the nursery drop off drive a lot nicer tbf though, hardly any cars on the road and provided you can dodge the fallen trees and flooded roads it was a lovely morning drive.
