Dehumidifier instead. Just got one myself and once it got the numbers down it now uses a steady 2kwh per day. It's reduced the gas usage a bit as well, so probably actually paying for itself.
I have an Envirovent PIV system. House was very humid when we bought it. Now we just run it on trickle mode, very little electric. Keeps on top of humidity. Clothes dry quick in doors as a bonus.

You also need to ensure you're comparing similar house types. A larger detached house would likely lose heat quicker than a small mid-floor flat which has other flats around it
This! My friend who has a mid-terraced house is always boasting to me how he hasn't turned any heating on yet. Though I wonder if his neighbours are scratching their heads why they use soo much gas! :D

Wow, I’m just looking at my Hive stats now, I have my house set not to get below 19c, my heating is set to turn off at 8pm or 21c whichever it hits first and it normally takes until about 0430/0500 for it to hit 19c and the heating to pulse for 10-15mins to bring it back above 19c then my heating comes on at 0630 to 21c and generally dosent switch on until the evening setting

I was having a look and after 2 days of being away the kitchen dropped to 10c in a couple of days.

I have sensitive plants at home so I can't let it get that cold even when away now

12.5 is ridiculously low. Health implications for starters and let alone damp/mould issues.

Yeah but how can you show how manly you are and how wimpy everyone is compared to you if you do the sensible thing of using the heating properly...

It's not just health implications, it's not great for a home to be kept in low temps for extended periods.

I'm not judging anyone, explicitly or otherwise. I even admit to being idiot. Also, I don't think there have been extended periods of such low temps, otherwise I would have switched the heating on sooner. Unless I am double-hard, obvs :p

Gas CH finally on when it dropped to 12.5c in my living room yesterday evening. Only had it on downstairs for two hours then went to bed early with a hot water bottle.

I use a heated throw and its tropical under there, been up in Yorkshire so came back to 14c living room, gave it a blast to 19c but i read that this sort of action doesn't have the effect of warming up surfaces enough and that moisture control is just as important. my humidifier warms the room slightly and keeps moisture at bay for peanuts.
one article i read gave 14c as minimum for the house, tbh my dehumidifier is superb in one room and obviously not as effective on the whole house (but i have a small house so still ok) i may buy a second dehumidifier, they don't have to chug all day you could set for maybe 60 or whatever and just let it kick in when it needs to
edit i should have attached the pipe to the humidifier when i went away as the tank was full so cut off

I have a fifteen year old dehumidifier. It probably isn't efficient but it is effective. I only use it when I am drying out clothes indoors, or the time when a radiator valve was leaking. Might be time to look for an efficient one. It's tricky though, I'm looking for a new fridge/freezer but don't need a family-sized one. However, the new, efficient tech is only in the expensive, modern, big ones. They use half of the electricity of the smaller ones. It all comes down to useful lifetime (which they can't/won't publish) and the vagaries of future changes in unit costs for the leccy.

Well wasnt expecting to wake up to this today, shame it'll be gone by dinner time :/
