Put the electric blanket on yesterday.

Next job is putting winter wheels on car. Holding out as long as possible as it's a job I hate doing.

Back to lovely Cornish footpaths, early December showing that I may need to wrap my Bannana plants

For a moment I thought that was the sky with sun/moon in the distance and some black. Mountain range ! :D

My brain couldn't process it!

Temperature is going to start dropping from this weekend. Models currently showing the potential for a significant cold spell, but that can still change yet

Unfortunately far from clear what is going to happen beyond a significant initial drop in the air temperature just above us.

Chilly tonight and expected to get colder just before sunrise, first night with heating on in two rooms!

OK some deviations but overall the build up to this winter still in many ways is tracking 78-79, the last "proper" winter really in the UK. Obviously that is going to be modified by today's climate even if the overall setup was the same (which it isn't).

Got my plants wrapped in fleece, showing 1c overnight Friday, then cold spell, even a bbc 5c can leave a frost on the car, not cold enough to damage my Banana plants but needed doing at some point
need to chuck some undiluted screen wash in the car , learnt the hard way with a split pipe under the wheel arch a few years back ,also the reservoir on my old fabia was also right under the wheel arch away from engine heat ,i remember one winter normal pre mix just froze and the motorway hard shoulder was packed with people hand cleaning the screens

I'm still wearing shorts. Not too cold yet, winter is still a month away after all.
Ah you're a postman. The only people that don't get laughed at for wearing shorts when the temperature drops to single digits.
I saw someone wearing flip flops in a supermarket yesterday. Went well with their pyjamas.

On the deep dive yesterday, they said with the strong El-Nino and the Indian Ocean Dipole it was more likely for unsettled, i.e. windy, rainy, cloudy weather rather than cold and frosty over the winter.

2010 was a bit frosty IIRC.
