Central Europe absolutely frigid, especially next week! Completely different to last year. Very cold tonight with some areas going down to 0C and 5C today

Upped the flow temperature on the boiler up to 55ºC to prepare for the cold weather starting today! Expecting 0-2ºC most nights for the foreseeable.

I'm not sure people struggling to pay their energy bills will agree with you...
But what about meeeeee

I'm sure they wont but what else do we hope or aim for - warm weather all year round in the UK?

I empathise with people that will struggle this Winter. My posting history will show the fact I have empathy for people's struggles as we all get them (well, most of us).

Apologies that, in a thread about Winter and how cold it might get, you cant post about quite liking cold Winters :(

Looking like the cold is finally going to hit.
If it stays dry.. Roll on!
If it brings snow.. Yes please.

Not keen on the huge heating bill coming!

Yesterday I was in shorts and a thin midlayer... Today it's still not cold.. But it's dropping sharply.

9c feels like 8.5 in Gosport on there. Can confirm, just been for a walk and only a t shirt is required. Could see a frost overnight though, but nothing real cold.
Edited my earlier post for clarity, writing about tonight, rather than now.

I am looking to see how I compare with last Winter (Dec 1st to Feb 28th)

Elec - 243kWh used
Gas - 831kWh used

At current prices (fixed rate) this would equate to:

Elec - £135.21 (plus £50.63 SC)
Gas - £61 (plus £21 SC)

Total - £196.21 for, what should be, the coldest 3 months (unless I use more)

It’s more than just a struggle for some. It can be fatal, especially for pensioners

I won't know my gas price until end of November when I take my read.

Electricity is a bit higher too as in the house more.

196?
Yeah we use waaaay more. October the bill was 115. And we are on 5p gas and 22p electricity. Standing charge is 47p in total (22p and 25p)

I'm expecting up to 150 for November

This is why I'm scared of my fix ending.
Effects though I only took the read on 7th due to being on holiday and heating was only on mid October.. The pound value is high!
