TBF I don't think my house is very efficient, came home it was 14 c boosted to 17c and it's back to 15c.
Had to turn this throw down though level 2 put of 4 and it's a volcano under there, not burning heating oil all night when house is dry

Do you walk around the house wearing it?

Already doing all that and then some. It's extremely hard to out compete an old building with really high ceilings, solid brick walls, and huge single pane sash windows. The thermostat is set at 17.5c and we lose roughly 1c every hour once the heating is off.
Tell me about it, and I don't have central heating.

Just googled where was the coldest place ever in UK - It turned out to be RAF Shawbury not far from us - In 1981 it was -26C and I can remember walking down lane to pub for a meal and we turnrd around and went home but it was only -18C but our faces went numb.
Only time in my life that has happened.
It's -3C at moment but forcast to be -6C later tonight.
I have my dressing gown on at moment - it's cold down here in PC room -Wife is in lounge baking in front of log burner.

PS So is Ronnie - He does know which side of the bread is buttered.

As an asthmatic, I find the cold aggravates my symptoms. I am OK at work, on the shop floor as on the move all the time. Even in the walk in chillers, I am usually pushing rollers or lifting boxes.

On the checkouts, I hardly moved about and got chest infections regularly. Plus the kiosk is about 7m from the entrance with an intermittent door curtain (vent that blows hot air above doors).

At work now, I do at least 90k+ steps a week. Most was 109k. Checkouts/CS - 45-60k.

November's gas bill was £3.39 (not counting standing charges) put my heating onto for 3-5 hours today from 7 till 12 until it was 19 in the living room. Dropped down to 17 now. Try to keep the doors shut and draft excluders on the bottom of the kitchen and passway door. Almost on £2 Inc standing charges plus electric for the day.

Its much colder in the passageway/upstairs at 11-12 as the front door sucks all the heat away unfortunately and their is not really anything I can do about it. The door is fully sealed no drafts composite door but it's freezing to the touch.

I've never owned a house (moved into here in February) that was during the winter. Not sure if passageway being much much colder is normal. Googling is no help whatsoever. Tried putting the radiator on, it heats up slowly but the heat disappears quickly.

Gas bill is £200 for November, December ones gonna be mental.

What the hell............

19 is too cold for me, got to be 23 or over

Ah, that explains it, Mr Mediterranean temperatures over here :D

19'c for me, and I only keep the living room heated and at the moment its on for about 5-6hours a day which is only when I'm actually in the house (plus 1hr of bedroom before bed) so relatively cheap to heat I think but still £44 in gas for Nov up from £21 in Oct when the heating only came on for maybe 1hr at day at most with the far milder temps we had, but no surprise really.

Do you want a medal

You should direct your anger at your landlord rather than the energy companies, assuming of course that the landlord can undertake measures to improve the property. If there are things the landlord can do but wont then complain about it and if still no joy then think about moving, easier said than done I know.

My landlord is pretty good and has done largely as much as he can including lowering our rent once the energy price increases hit. The building is just very big and very old. It's also listed, so I'm unsure what changes can be made to it.

We've been using this rental to build a healthy deposit for our own place. The landlord knows this hence helps with lowering rent etc. It's just a pity this price gouging has ruined things a little and practically stalled our savings.

I'm guessing that was the winter when as a youngster I lived ~10 miles north of Shawbury, attending school in Tilstock. School closed for at least a few days and snow was up to my waist, to get around the fields I had to wade as if I was saddle sore.

Nothing comes close to that winter that I can remember experiencing in almost fifty years, but then Southampton has been home for ~30 years and snow/ice rarely lasts here more than a few days.

Very cold this morning. Even with the dehumidifier I had to dry the windows.

Tweaked my heating so with the night off temp of 15c if it's 0c or below outside it'll heat the rooms to 16c instead.
