Winter 2024/25 - Cold or Mild? Rain or Snow?

Weather forecast updated and increased peak gusts to mid 90s now from high 80s.... Keeping phone on charger and also charging the Kobo to give me something to do if the power goes out :o

Shopping was all done so we are good for 2-3 weeks if need be :p

Hasn't been too bad here (South West) from what I've seen - few explosive gusts during the night but aside from knocking some misc things over doesn't seem to have done much damage.

Must admit I am worse for this since working from home, every sound is like "whats that", while getting into work could/be dangerous while there its more, hope the house is ok.
I may put headphones on today
Yeah, I'd be similar. I guess this is the first house I've bought, and with our wedding coming up, money is tight, so I don't want to have to put money out to repair stuff if needed.

Now we have daylight; thankfully, nothing has been damaged as yet. However, the recycling bin has blown over and emptied its contents over the garden. Thankfully nothing else.

Hopefully this will be the maximum we see today locally.

Wind Gust High (mph) 46 - F8

Wind Gust High Time - 03:57

This blasted weather - There are waste bins all over the road and it's cold so hunted around and pulled out a old wax jacket I used to wear years ago when out clay shooting. Opened it up and gave it a rub down and thought what's that - put my hand in the inside pocket and pulled out a grubby envelope.
Well well -A envelope full of out of date paper money - I wondered where it had gone. Good job I didn't bin jacket.
So for once thank you god for the weather. :):):)

Seems to have changed to more westerly, so it’s now coming head on at my fence.

Been chasing things down this morning, probably good to when I did as at the moment the power keeps going off and on and it'd probably blow me away out there at the moment.

We don't live anywhere near the worst zones and I still was up in the night worrying about my roof blowing off. Partly because I redesigned a repair to the roof structure myself. If anything that should make me less worried as I know it's been done properly (know or think?), but still.

Electric is very temperamental at the moment.

Think we need to find a new house soon and start making our own.

So years ago you had a gun and a envelope full of cash. Nothing suspicious about that all :D

Barely been any wind down here in Hampshire. A little overnight. Looking at trees outside right now, they're completely still.

one tree down for me so far ... and the one I least expected to fall over. Not that big either so not to worry. Gusts are the issue, very squally.

A colleague has sent pics of huge trees coming down where I live (Lancaster) although I am not there right now. Hope my roof is ok, it is going to need replacing this year anyway

just lost a ridge tile - came thumping down pretty much right where i'd been standing a few minutes earlier trying to prop the neighbours fence up, i'd walked away to get the cordless drill, heard the 'bang' and came back out to find it laying in bits....the fence can go to **** !!

So from now until about 1pm, is when its to be strongest gusts round here - 94MPH.... Hold on tae yer knickers
