The way it played out for me felt a bit weird, with Sam telling Jon about his family and then dropping the news about him being the true heir to the throne as an after thought, almost coming across as though he was stirring up trouble rather than breaking a massive news revelation...
That was my take, only Daenerys will probably think that Sam has said this to get back at her for what she did to his family.

So, looks like Cersei is going to tell everyone that Euron is the father to her child.

Jamie gets a free pass from the obvious incest ridicule but grows a mega hatred for his sister because he knows that the child is his.

Yeah possibly, though I don’t think the child will be born given what the witch told her. So she either loses the baby through a miscarriage or she dies before it is born.

Bran becoming the night king through some time travel shenanigans seems more likely than ever. Although we haven’t seen much of Bran using his powers beyond some peeking at old events so expect either some serious Brantastic moments or more creepy riddles.

Yeah it is plausible, especially if he were to lose more people close to him, that could be motivation for him to try and change the past. On one hand he's now kind of autistic Bran and operating on a different plane, not worried about trivial human squabbles etc... perhaps too sensible, on the other hand meddling in the past is exactly what the three eyed raven has been worried about and has tried to warn him about....

Random other fun thought... the mad king went mad because he had the Bran powers and it was the night king that was in his mind.

I think the Mad King stuff was hinted at in season 6, I guess we'll probably never get it confirmed for sure since the show has moved past that now (well not in the show at least, we'll perhaps get some details when the next book comes out) but the three eyed raven was quite anxious about Bran not lingering too long in the past and looked quite worried when Bran shouted out to Ned when they watched him at the Tower.... it kind of indicated that he'd discovered similar himself - he was a Targaryen after all and so it makes sense perhaps that he'd tried to warn the "mad" king about the white walkers etc.. ergo the "mad" king wasn't originally mad per say but got driven mad by all these crazy whispers he heard from the three eyed raven trying to talk to him "burn them all" etc... Of course it could also perhaps be Bran that goes back and does it and likewise Bran that goes back and tries to stop the Children of the Forest from creating the night king.

Though that could all get to be a bit silly/pointless....

Don't forget, he's already admitted that he's not Bran anymore but he "remembers being Bran" so he may not care about family as much as we might expect.

I like the idea of the Mad King losing his mind from the whispers of the three eyed raven, maybe the longer they linger the more connected they become to the world. The idea of Bran going back to try and stop the creation of the white walkers but then becoming the Night King himself sounds cool, I just think it potentially opens a can of worms like other time travel stories where plot holes can be discovered.

Could future Bran not warg back into his past self (present to us) and warn everybody what's going to happen? Days of future past style.

I could see Daenerys turning tail and retreating with her dragons during the battle for Winterfell, leaving them all screwed. She's going to get an 'I told you so' from Sansa (who she clearly dislikes) for trusting Cersei, I think people will side against her to spare Jaime and she's about to get the truth bomb from Jon on his lineage (which I think she won't believe seeing as it came from Sam). There have been seeds of doubt planted in a few characters now whether she is truly the right choice to rule, Jon even showed that in the last episode as well as having a few reminders to remember who his family is.

Thanks mod, sorry about that.

Anyway back to GoT - thing is with Bran creating the Night King, it's a little on the nose surely?

The drop in quality the last few seasons with the writing makes me think it could easily go this way. Can imagine the writers high fiving each other as they come up with the idea thinking how smart they are.

why's he called The Night King, when he doesn't specifically have relation to the night? Why's he not Ice King, or such?

I can't remember the name ever being explicitly explained but when the White walkers / Others first came about they brought a night and winter that lasted decades. So he could have been the Ice King or Winter King, Snow king etc. but he does have a connection to the night.

The other thing I wondered is if Bran is now wittingly or unwittingly an agent of the NK. He put that mark on Bran and soon after Bran got all weird.

oh right, ta for that. must admit I never made a connection that the oncoming winter was also a period of total darkness, just thought it was...wintery :-/

There's some interesting theories online which go in the direction of the long night being caused by a nuclear winter many thousands of years ago. Also coincides with the doom of varlyria. TL;DR is that somehow varlyrians had atomic/nuclear tech and things went bad, boom, nuclear winter ensued.

Because Ice king is already taken. :p
