He can choose to fight the trial himself, no? Which won't end well as quite clearly Tywin needs him alive or his plans for Jamie go kaput.

Tywin is kinda screwed, if he loses the trial by fight, he's dead, if he chooses a normal trial there's probably too much evidence against him and he's dead. Only way is for a champion to win a fight for him I reckon.

I recon Jaime may have something to do with it, either fighting for or against.

I really loved that last scene though, superb acting, watched it 3 or 4 times over on Youtube.

I can't see Jamie fighting for the crown. No way. If he was told to do it, he'd refuse. If he was forced to do it he would either lose on purpose or flee the city.

Fighting for Tyron? Can't see that either. It conflicts too much with his position as Commander of the Kingsguard. That and he's hardly the great fighter he once was. He wouldn't be willing to gamble Tyron's life on his ability to beat the crown's champion. Tyron will call for Bronn. That's the best option he has.

Jamie stepping up for his brother would be an interesting move - would maybe cause Tywin to have a re-think... certainly scuppers the plans to have Jamie continue the line/leave the Kings guard....

If Jamie loses/dies then the Imp is guilty and dies too... no Lannister line left... if Jamie wins then the Imp has pulled off an awesome move again and got himself out of a dodgy situation.

I thought perhaps that Bronn would face Jamie.

You mean Tyrion? Or am I getting confused?

Wonder if he'll call for Bronn, Bronn maybe refuses as he's got a bit of cash etc.. now doesn't want to risk fighting whoever they put up... then maybe Jamie steps up at the last minute or something.

If Jaime is willing to give up his position in the Kingsguard to save Tyrion, then I don't think it'll conflict. True Bronn would be the best choice for Tyrion, but Tyrion could easily name Jaime to fight for him for the ultimate "**** you" to Tywin.

This sums it up better than I could.

I don't think Tyrion would allow Jamie to fight for him, especially missing his right hand. More likely is Oberyn vs Ser Meryn I think, or perhaps even Oberyn vs. The Mountain as we know that one is coming sooner or later...

Disappointed with the Iron born stuff like the rest of you but the last scene was great,

Is there going to be a mid-season break? I hope not!

There is no episode two weeks today because of memorial day in the US, (IIRC they had the break last year after S2E9 got relatively crap ratings when it was aired on memorial day weekend) apart from that no midseason break.

Trial by combat is a fight to the death by the way. I don't think Jamie is good enough to fight a decent opponent left handed. Bronn has been making childsplay of Jaime's swordsmanship.

Bronn also probably won't want to fight for Tyrion, if he wins he'll probably be killed by a Cersei attack squad as revenge. I'm pretty sure the answer has already been given to us in the trailers leading up to this season though.

I don't get it. I'm pretty sure I have seen elsewhere that you have read the books so know how it is gonna happen anyway?...I know they change whatever they want, but they won't change anything as important as that!

A kingsguard can't quit. He has to be dismissed by the king. If Tyrion named Jamie, he would likely be told 'no'. Regardless, a one-handed Jamie isn't a good enough fighter. Tyrion isn't an idiot - even if he could do so, he wouldn't pick his brother. It would almost certainly get them both killed.

His first choice will be Bronn. If he can't represent him then he'll have to hope someone else is willing to champion him, this time without the promise of gold.

There's filler, then there's filler, and then there's the Ironborn's attack on the Dreadfort. absolutely awful in writing, directing, pacing, everything. There aren't enough words to describe how ridiculous it was in every way!

agreed.

the whole scene was pathetic.
