Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem- New ARPG

I have been able to play on EU ok today for the most part. Just completed Act 2, and encountered a horrible bug.

My personal stash has been reset to what it was at the start of Act 2...so all my gear is gone, gems are gone, everything I collected. Not happy as I had 12 Entropys saved up for later, and now have 2. I also lost 2 legendary's and 2 unique's.

All that time pre release, the price increase once they realised it was selling and not even the basics can be done right :D

Bought earlier and have been playing as a Mage, seems decent so far up to level 10 or so. I hope there is a lot more variation in abilities going forwards to really mix things up!

Well tonight I got to level 35 and I am mid-way through Act3 as far as I can tell. I am keeping everything on my person right now just in case the stash screws up again.

I have found a really odd build. I am tanky, but spinny, and I see to be able to kill 'bosses' with 200k+ health in around 20-30 seconds without having to consider my health. Unsure if this is normal?

Finally managed to play last night for a few hours, apart from issues with some mobs especially bats getting stuck in random places not hit any major bugs yet. Ran as a party of 3 and poison still really hurts when scaling is involved, Solo it tickles. Shame they only give you 1 point per level up now for talent tree.

Looking forward to playing it when get home from work which is the first time a games made me feel like this in a long time.

Installed on release day, but like most couldn’t get connected to a server, so I played offline.

Finally got connected last night and got a toon up to the same point in the story as my offline character - saw several notes from the devs in chat saying hotfixes were being applied and got booted a couple of times, with a request to update the game via Steam. Annoying, but good to see the devs are pro-active in fixing issues.

Definitely the best of the D3 clones I’ve played - amongst others, Chaosbane turned out to be pretty awful and I just couldn’t get on with PoE.

Still trying to figure out exactly how the willpower/rage mechanic works when you’re carrying different weapons in different hands - just me being dense I’m sure - but I’m loving the comparatively ‘mix & match’ nature of character-building, particularly on the passive skill screen.

Hoping the servers are more stable over the weekend so I can have a big sesh ...

What's better, this or Grim Dawn? thinking of buying it and loved D3.

Grim Dawn felt and looked like an updated Titan Quest if you ever played that, had great fun with it and bought the DLC's, bit clunky at times but they've constantly been updating it and trying to get the most out of a 20 year old engine. Wolcen is built on the Cryengine and runs silky smooth for me no matter how much is on the screen something which D3 always struggled with. Wolcen also supports 3440x1440 natively unlike D3 which never will due to Blizzard.

Both are good, Wolcen feels closer to D3 and POE.

well servers now not due to be up until after 1200 now, wonder if we get some nice skins or some such as a gift once all this is sorted i know its a small team but maybe they should have had a larger beta or some sort of stress test as they have stated their record server pop was just under 1700 before fridays launch ?! that seems awfully low for a game that requires servers for online play. also some of the ingame bugs have been around since alpha according to some.

My friend is trying to get me to buy this. Watching a couple of videos It really has not tempted me it seems like Diablo 3 which I’ve no interest in playing any time soon.

Not sure that would have achieved what releasing the game has done. You'd never have managed to get as many people trying to play the game as there has been once the game released in full. Arguably the devs should have seen how many people bought the game and have made sure they were prepared, but without knowing the cause of the server issues we couldn't say for sure. The fact it's been down for 24+ hours now suggests to me that there is likely more to it than needing to bump up the hardware specs / number of servers. I feel sorry for the devs really, they're getting so much abuse on Twitter right now, yet if you compare to D3's release - they've got a long way to go for it to be as bad.

I grabbed it when it was in alpha nearly 4 years ago, it was a totally different game unrecognisable to what it has turned out to be.

They obviously didn't expect it to be so popular on release and as @PinkFloyd says above they probably had to massively upgrade all their hardware/servers.

Shame this has happened, I hope they can recover it.
