Wolfenstein: The New Order

I am loving this game! Went straight for Uber mode as people were saying it was too easy on anything less, haven't been killed as many times in years lol, (died twice during the whole BF4 SP campaign).

I also haven't been able to stop playing, again something I've not done since Deus Ex! Well done Machine Games, easily game of the year for me so far.

id tech 5 is a strange beast though, jaggies are really bad even after adding a line to the launch options, still it looks good (if not spectacular) and the gameplay's good enough to (mostly) forget it.

You have to keep manually entering the command for AA it seems to get reset on startup if used in a config or startup parameter. Gonna look at forcing it via profile.

Cons )

Frame rate drops in areas there shouldn't be any frame rate drops

Lots and lots of scripted areas, this is especially noticeable when sneaking into an area and suddenly loads of enemies that appear that have a sixth sense to know where you are.

Ridiculous file size requirements

Pros )

Great action packed game with plenty to do

Interesting cut scenes and story line

Graphical settings are a bonus especially FOV

Cool secret areas

@ gerardfraser, Read your comment/dig elsewhere about SLI.

The game engine is to blame not Nvidia, same as Rage.

Runs fine on a decent single GPU, just disable SLI / Crossfire.

I have a single GPU and I can clearly see it drop in areas to about 50fps when nothing is really going on

Never seen less that 59FPS (probably just tolerance like 59.5) like that chart with GPU performance shows.

Sometime the cutscenes are slow motion though.

Good solid game, played it on 2nd from last hardest difficulty and was challenging. Had to drop difficulty down on the last boss fight but just wanted to get the game finished at that point.

Game feels like it needs a patch or a driver update, just doesn't run smooth. 1080p everything maxed on a 290 was dipping to as low as 35fps whilst using 3GB VRAM. Had to drop a couple of settings lower but even still was bouncing around from 50-60fps which was acceptable. Not sure why it uses so much VRAM though as isn't exactly a graphical powerhouse.

8/10 - Wouldn't want to spend £40 on it. £20 and it's worth a go.

Caveat I've not played the whole game yet - but so far nothing has dropped it under 60fps with my setup with ultra settings and forcing some extra settings in the profile. id games and RAGE IIRC was no exception in that you'd normally have a default/ARB Open GL render path and an NV specific one that usually gave a fair performance increase so wonder if that would explain anything.

Finally cracked all the Enigma codes last night, it took a while, but got there in the end. :D

Just got a couple of chapters to replay, for the last 4 gold items and a few perks to finish off, then it's on to Uber mode, but which one. ;)

This has been the best £22 I have spent on a game in a long time, especially a new release.
The only problems I have had throughout the game was 3 occurrences of a black jagged line(about 2" in depth) across the center of my screen. And in the train scene with Frau Engle, I get a pink flashing on the other characters in the room. I thought it was intermittent light reflecting through the window on a travelling train, but it did'nt reflect on anything else, other than the characters.
But aside from that it was pretty much faultless.

Wolfenstein New Order Crossfire working profile.14.4 WHQL

Set up your profile to OGLEnableSuperAA

Couple in game screens. If you go not want throttling , set supersampling in CCC other wise games is not demanding enough to hold clock because of 60FPS limit.

Just my luck, as soon as I finish the game !!

On a side note, I copied them setting and VRAM usage shoots up to 5.2GB !! surely that cant be right. Also performance doesn't seem to have improved, in fact FPs reduced?

1080p btw

I'm running this on a [email protected], 4GB RAM and 2x6970. Although not enabled Crossfire yet so actually just the one card.

At 2560x1440 I need to run medium settings with a couple of options bumped up but it runs very well. I don't monitor the fps as I know it'll never be what I want to see on this system. From what I can see I'm not missing anything much from the higher settings at all. I don't see the need for the 40GB size at all though.

What do you do with the Enigma stuff? I pick it up. Is there something you're supposed to do with them?
