Wolfenstien 2 Vulkan benchmarks:

It was released and I assume you were in hiding due to the "cough" launch. ;)

/me off to store for a Red Bull...
I was pretty active in the members thread of Vega once it launched. Not so interested in the opinions of non owners in the launch thread.

AMDMatt is an employee of AMD and is doing exactly what he is supposed to be doing, extolling the virtues of his employers products.

Is it me or is Vega producing sharper scenes? The 1080's look to have some sort of very light 'fog' on top of the textures (for lack of a better word).
Its like that in loads of games. We did a side by side comparison of the original battlefront once and it was horrendous on my cousins 970 compared to my 7970 at the time. I know that games getting on a bit now but I still notice it in newer youtube side by sides. I just don't mention it because...

THERE ARE NO IQ DIFFERENCES BETWEEN AMD AND NVIDIA, THIS FANTASY NEEDS TO STOP.
In any direct apple to apple comparison made by dozens of sites, both vendors retain the same image quality, please spare us you subjective useless inaccurate IQ comparisons.

Nvidia by default needs on desktop some Digital Vibrancy notched up (70% for me) and in games set to non default High Quality (my default setting).

Said with such authority. Nvidia do have a horrible habit of cheating to be fair.

That was in the past though, both companies keep watch over the other to expose any cheating, AMD exposed NVIDIA cheating on 3D Mark 2001 back in the day and their inability to render HDR with AA back during the Geforce 7 era. NVIDIA on the other hand exposed AMD tampering with HDR elements in some games, their Tessellation factor tampering and worse quality AF during HD4000/HD5000 era. They are at each other's throat when it comes to IQ since it undermines their efforts in designing solid architectures. None of them will allow the other to gain an unfair advantage through reduction of image quality, they will expose such behavior immediately.

There is. Iv witnessed it first hand and AMD iq was definitely better. Sorry but its true.

I am sorry, but unless you used tight testing conditions, what you saw was either different monitor settings, different gamma settings, or simply different in game settings. Battlefront is one the highly rated AAA games, it undergoes massive scrutiny from the communities, you can check the thousands of youtube videos on the game with comparison between AMD and NVIDIA, there are no differences IQ wise.

Here is one from DigitalFoundry no less:

The reason Nvidia is usually faster is because there IQ is craaaaaaap compared to AMD............Nvidia is such an underhanded deceitful company who know what they do under the hood for performance gains but rest assured they can really be noticed when it comes to IQ comparisons with AMD because they looooooose :D:D:D:D:D:D:p

Matt was extolling the virtues of AMD long before he became and employee and will no doubt be doing so if he ever leaves AMD.

His enthusiasm for AMD has nothing to do with if he is an employee or not.

I dont know what im doing wrong but I just installed the game, it set itself to uber mode on my ryzen/vega 64 rig but the on screen, in game fps counter only shows 40fps. fps seems to race up if I move the mouse then settles back to 40fps. ryzen 1700 at 3.9, ddr4 at 3466, vega 64 ac that holds 1640ish in benchmarks with the hbm2 at 1060. 1440p 144hz freesync monitor. installed the latest drivers (17.10.3?) and the windows creators update etc. checking wattman the vega only boosts to 1300 ish and the temps arent hitting any sort of throttling, around the 64c mark. steams fps counter was showing about 65fps. I did run a timespy bench after I installed the new drivers and that was as expected.

Any ideas?

Last video Fury X vs 980TI. Go to 3:27. The pipes arent as sharp on the nvidia card. They lose far more detail the further away the are compared to the Fury. The textures at the front are bad. The rocks in the back have a lot of detail missing and look low quality. The shadows aren't as sharp. The bump mapping isn't as good and there's even a cloud missing at the back.

The video is riddled with the same. Points for anyone who can spot the differences.

Because of different weather effects, the map changes weather constantly, In NVIDIA's footage the weather is foggy, in AMD's it's clear.
