Working in McDonalds?

Only someones attitude makes the job worthless.

If you genuinely need the money, it's a job that pays you so you should show it some sort of respect.

I work at Yates, its a nothing career to me, but it is my current job and I do the best I can in it

Like most places like that, if you get on with the fellow staff it'll be a job you can live with. If the staff, especially the managers, are ****s like I experienced then you'll hate every minute.

On a slightly related note. When emailing a CV to a potential employer, am I better copying the CV content into the email, or sending it in .doc format?

I have never lived off the goverment/parents and i wouldn't reduce myself to working in a fast food place because i am better than that. Simple as. :)

Better than that?

I've worked in fast food, and to be fair loved it, you certainly aint better than me :)

As an attachment, but it would be better in person or via snail mail with a cover letter unless email is specified.

I spent 4 years there through college and first 2 years of uni, and correct - it is hell, but if you learn how to play the system, get the managers on your side, pick your own shifts etc then it can be a real easy money maker. Granted its only like £40 for 8 hours work though.

Thanks. I've got a couple of jobs off the JobCentre site and they are all specifically email only. Plus I've spent over a year handing out CV's to shops and stuff in person, not once been called in for an interview, may aswell just throw them in the bin.

i worked at McD's when i was at college & ended up becoming a shift manager before i left & got a job in IT.

OK so yea it's a s*** job etc etc, but it was a good laugh. All about the people you work with & all that as you're all in the same situation & just end up having a laugh.

May as well apply & get some cash in your pocket, besides if you don't like it quit! :D

THIS! i never did a night shift or work till for a long length of time in my 5 years of working there

I can think of worse jobs. I worked in a cosmetics factory when I was in college to make some extra money, I can't imagine McDs being much worse.

Then good for you. I am glad you loved it. :)

I would loathe working in a fast food place. I think anyone could do it and i'd rather work somewhere better and have it on my CV rather than somewhere like a fast food place that although would get me 'easy' money, would not benefit me in any shape or form. Something in that 'its hard finding a job' (or a title like that) really stood out as a view similiar to mine and it went along the lines of someone looking for work and because things were so desperate, he might have to go along the call centre route.

Edit: McDonalds offer work experience! :p

Working in fast food is bloody hard work. I know of a few managers that regard it highly if you stuck at it. There's a few jobs like that in the retail industry.

No worse than any other job. In fact most people I know who worked there have siad it's better than stacking shelves.

Isn't it fairly good pay these days as well?

Take the McDonalds job now but keep looking for better things. It's always much easier to find a job if you are in one currently

This if you can stick with it, it shows that you'll bloody work hard.

I sure as hell don't miss the 10 hour shifts with no break when there was the BOGOF Big Macs on Saturdays that's for sure.
