Was a tough game for Webb. Players should have been sent off, but that would have killed the game. No win situation. If he sent off the players that should have been sent off, that would have killed the game. Having not sent them off, if Netherlands had won, then you could say, they shouldn't have done, as players should have been sent off.

Quite frankly, the Dutch didn't deserve to win.

To be honest, if it had been an even game, I think there would be more questions about it. The Dutch were so filthy that I really don't care.

Yea that was a bad tackle I agree, but the dutch were made to look like thugs by the reactions of the spanish players, if you didn't see that then you were watching with blinkers!

They weren't made to look like thugs by the Spanish players, they were made to look like thugs because that's exactly what they were.

Yup, nice to get some football during the summer though, I hate those years with no WC or EC on.

Think thats probably the peak now for Spain though, many of their players will be too old/retired next time round. Have to say that I fully expect Germany to dominate the next EC and WC given the average age of their team. Think the Spain era is over and its going to be the return of the German era.

Bit of a bugger for the times of the games next WC though what with the time difference and all.

Congrats to Spain, needless to say considering my ancestry, I am chuffed to bits. Roll on the start of the new season !

The Spanish, as with every other football team, make the most of contact. There is a huge difference, particularly when the contact is as heavy as it was through most of the match from the Dutch, between that and cheating.

Spain was the best team on the night and through the tournament, and to call them cheats and not call the Dutch out on their disgusting tactics is ridiculous.

Forlan - golden ball. Well deserved. Played brilliantly.
 
Well done Spain on winning the World Cup you deserved it. I wonder what the odds would be on Brazil or Spain to win the next one.
 
That was the right result - I wanted the Dutch to win before it kicked off, but they were filthy and should have lost at least one player in the first half. Pleased that Spain won it.
 
I don't think Spain played the best football at this World Cup but they do play football the right way.

On the run of the game, Spain edged it :)

Massive well done to them.

Holland, should be ashamed of themselves for trying to kick Spain off the pitch, and Robben instead of getting a hissy fit, put your chances away and you'd have won.

Howard Webb did fine imho, should have had the balls to send off two more players from Holland but then would have being destroyed for "ruining" the final.
