The alternative was Carragher and he would have been ripped apart with Germany's pace up front, even the fullbacks were getting out run by Ozil and co on a regular basis.

Germany have a very good team, younger, hungrier, it must be hard for any manager to motivate a team full of multi millionaires.

Because at the time that the England manager was appointed there was either no English manager good enough or none good enough that wanted the job - you can spin it either way, the essential point is that a number of other nations seem to manage fine with foreign coaches so if the excuse is that England can't play well with a foreign coach then why should that be?

That was a pretty poor performance by England on any measure you could care to name although I've yet to see the disallowed goal as I happened to go out during that period.
 
I don't care that upson scored he's a championship player like a lot of them are.

huge grand canyon gulf between man utd chelsea arsenal liv and the rest and it showed because we had many a player not in those top 4 sides
 
Just playing devils advocate for a moment,.. when you think about it, the score was technically 4-2. It was a good win by germany but not exactly a slaughtering. England simply aren't good enough, that's the way it works. Capello may well have done what would get a team to win, but there obviously aren't good enough english players. At least, not as good as ze germans.
He can only work with what's available.
 
Just looking at the Lampard goal again - why have we NOT got a Rugby style TV referee? It wouldn't have made a difference to this result, but something needs to be done to combat absolutely retarded refereeing decisions like this.
 
Oh indeed, it was all Upson's fault. Cole, Johnson and Terry were outstanding....oh wait they were even worse. Johnson was never in position, Terry passed it to the german attack at one point and was constantly out of place. And I have no idea where Cole was for Muller's goals.

England were never going to win the world cup. Problem is, if that goal was given I think England may have won, they had to come out chasing still. But hey-ho, they were also lucky not to become temporary cricket players.

We are a rubbish football team any Welsh person would admit that, I'm not denying that.


It needs to be rubbed in though, other wise all you England fans will be once again disillusioned about how good you are come the next big tournament.

Don't patronise me. I understand the position very well. I don't give two ***** that the Clubs have to pay the players wages for National games - they make enough money, suck it up.

The League is only more important than the National side to selfish, unpatriotic ******** who have no clue and need to give their heads a shake.
