World Cup Group B (England, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, Sweden) **SPOILERS**

I must say I dont agree with the ITV coverage, its 100x better than the BBC tripe if you ask me.

Funny how Tyldsley was commenting at the start of the match saying this will be a game for England and Sweden of how many goals they can score past T&T :o They quickly changed their tone near the end though.

Dont see how that is any reflection on ITV though, your telling me that everyone else thought differently before the match?

Its not professional, very disrespectful.

Oh come on, it was tongue in cheek. The ITV guys were actually willing T&T to win from reasonably early on.

Some of Linekars comments are no better.

very happy with us taking the 3 points today. first half we were good, but gave away the ball too much. and the second half, as ALWAYS sit behind the ******* ball for 45mins, then to make things better bring on hargreaves  . really i can't wait till sven leaves. i don't know if mc'claren will fix this 10 men behind the ball. it just annoys the **** out of me, he has no clue whatsoever. its the dam players or him.

that ref was shocking. clone collina man  . plus points were that joe cole and gerrard had a good game ;)

swe - tt match was great btw. really happy with the result :)

I prefer Lineker's remarks as they are witty and cause little harm. ITV are a bag of poo goes for the presenters and pundits Fat Ron, Townsend, Earl, McCoist have no idea about football. BBC all the way, I know which channel I'll be watching the final.

Wrighty and Jonathan Pierce should move to ITV where they belong though.

I can't see how its a good result for us, both Sweden and T&T played better than us, if we play like we played agaisnt Paraguay in the 2nd half, both of those will sweep us aside, and i can see Paraguay getting a win somewhere, i can see a 3rd place a coming.

 Right...a result isn't about how we play is it..it's the scoreline. The scorelines today were basically perfect. Lets hope we can take it futher.

i have to agree, imo england are VERY overated and nothing more than a hyped up average team

I've been watching England for 20 years so this kind of display was nothing new, and equally nothing at all to worry about. We got three points and that's all that matters. We will beat T&T and that's us in the next round - where the World Cup really starts. So enough of the doom and gloom already.

As for the commentary........I had to watch on ABC with Yank commentators. I would have given my right arm for Motty

Rubbish. That's been the case in recent years, but now we are genuinely a very good side. Of course, we'll know if that's true in a months time....but writing them off after the first group game is just stupid.

Managed to catch the second half in the pub after I got sent home early from work (result!). Dissapointing performace, but typical England really. Far too much sitting back and wussing out of 50-50 chances because we got the early lead (Downing in particular annoyed me at this, because he got into some decent positions at times, and then just let the defender take balls he could have gotten to). Shame, because the few times we actually clicked we looked really good.

I thought Joe Cole played really well, and I can see what Sven was aiming for with the 4-4-1-1. Owen wasn't playing well and the change was deserved, but Crouch just isn't the right sort of player to play up front on his own. Unfortunately, England don't have that sort of player in our ranks, so the whole formation is wasted really.

A good first half for England but very poor second. Gerrard + Lampard lost control and England struggled to hold onto the ball, these two will walk all over weak teams but will get exposed badly against better midfields. Owen looked completely unfit as well to me and instead of bringing Downing on I reckon Lennon would have done a better job.

I said it at euro 2004 as well but letting themselves go so deep when they are ahead will come back to haunt them because that is the reason they messed up in 2002 and 2004, forget all these other excuses in those tournaments England got themselves ahead and instead of building on their lead sat back Italian style and the English can't play them! It just isn't in their make up to play games like that and they have to keep attacking.

England haven't got a single defensively sound midfielder in the side so quite why they play like that I do not know. A lot of hype around England and how they are favourites, players peaking together and how it is their year, if they had played a decent team and played a second half like that they would have been battered. Stronger tests to come for England

They do if Carrick plays.

Probably a good bet and let Gerrard play a free role. Not conviced myself about Carrick defensively but he doesn't get caught out of position like Lampard or Gerrard and can help in attack.

i have to agree, if england played one of the better sides THEY WILL GET BATTERD, they will prolly progress and beat the next opp but nothing more, sorry just not good enough never will be

I was a little disappointed with the Enlgand game, but thought they deserved to win and glad they did :). A big shock with Sweden, T&T showed great commitment and determination to get something out of that one! Throws the group right open, which is an odd thing after only 1 game each!

Argentina vs Ivory Coast was a cracker! Best match yet - although I am still not convinced really about Drogba. Still he did score today, just a pity they couldn't hold the Argies to a draw.

Argentina are best team I've seen play so far...

In terms of the full 90 then I would agree on that, however I think that in terms of what we saw from the first 35 minutes of the England game that England are a better side. Argentina would never have been in a position to score the goals they did against our defense, but I think we would suffer the same problem as the Ivory Coast on attack i.e. inability to finish.
