World Cup Group B (England, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, Sweden) **SPOILERS**

Before the Paraguay game I thought England were in with a great chance of winning the World Cup. Now I have dramatically reviewed that.

They didnt show nearly enough ability/potential, (remember, they were trying their hardest)

Ecuador,Argentina,Ivory Coast, Mexico,Holland,S&M,Portugal ALL looked better, this means England have a mountain to climb and must improve.

I don’t think that’s true. Rooney will make a massive difference and he is rumoured to be getting involved sooner that expected. The only reason we didn’t get many goals against Paraguay was due to a lack of decent strikers. Owen has always been way overrated and that rubbish ref had a vendetta against Crouch from the beginning. Our back four were great, in terms of potential are midfield is the best in the world. I am confident we will be seeing allot more from Old Blighty.

rooney shouldnt be involved till after the group stages unless we nee him
owen is coming back from a serious injury, so i dont expect rooney to be sharp at all
the ref was rubbish yes
individually yes we have a good midfield, but lamps n gerrad dont gel at all, imo (and it could be a bad IMO) play carrick with one of them, so they can make the runs foward, whilst carrick protects the back 4 and also suppliers his killer balls

Far too much analysis of the first england game. We needed 3 points and we got them. IIRC we won't have to play at that time of day again which should be a great relief to the players.

IMO i've felt that the gerrard lampard partnership is actually getting better. It seems that gerrard more often than not plays the holding role and did pretty well in it. Yes you are taking part of gerrards game away from him in that role but he still plays it better than carrick.

I'd agree there. I think the problems seen in the friendlies were that Lamps & Gerrard were playing the same position week in week out, then with a day or two preparation asked to change their position. I think the fact that they have had a chance to train together for a while and play a few games in those positions has helped massively :)

Looking forward to the T&T game, think we should win although can see Hislop having a stormer and keeping us out for a while :)

I would say only Argentina looked better than we did based on the first half. Even then I would say that we could beat Argentina - they weren't that good.

England were comfortable against Paraguay, almost cruising too much. Some daft substitutions, yes, but it was still a good result. Loadsamoney: a lucky own goal? That delivery was as good as you'll see and forced the own goal. It was sailing in without a knockon, and if it wasn't Gamarra (sp) then it would have been Terry.

Well, i've just watched Martin O'Neil give the best analysis of the England match so far.

O'Neil takes a load of garbage in my opinion! He just rambles on and on and on.

Thank god he never got the England job. His managerial ability is the biggest myth in football!

Walcott has suffered a calf injury scare! 4 strikers? What were you think Sven?

Also, is anyone else as confident as me if we get Germany and Holland in the next 2 rounds? Semi Final here we come! :)

I think that england will get to at least the q-finals!

I agree with you he's completely full of crap - when has he ever been involved in the world cup - why is he even a pundit? He's only proved himself in the crappy scottish league.
He said that it was irrelevant what substitutions sven made - because in the end England won, so even though sven knows jack **** about tactics - it's irrelevant because England won  Ian wright and the scottish muppet pounced on him straight away and set this idiot straight.

lmao

I can't believe hes even considering playing Rooney agaisnt T&T, yes he may be fine at kicking a ball, but whats he like at getting tackled, will his foot hold up, i can see him getting a knock and thats it, bye, bye he's definately out now.

I got back from Frankfurt late last night. On the whole for the first game it wasnt too bad. I personally thought the first half was great, the second half however was'nt lol. The referee was a joke from the outset of the second half, there was a few choice words being thrown by the crowd anyways.

We got three points and thats all that matters, especially given the Trinidad and Sweden result.........:)

Another bonus was having Jason Leonard staying in the same hotel as me and then also finding out he was sitting in front of me at the match.....star struck I was! :D

I think he's got to give him at least 15-20 mins, how else will he get match fitness?

I do agree, but I would prefer to see him training to make an appearence for the Sweden game. Unless of course we need him, given that Gerrard and Crouch are sitting on yellow cards.....

If we genuinely need him for the Sweden game, it would be much better if he's already got a bit of match practice under his belt & there's only 1 place he can get that:)

Edit: Look at Owen, I know he's been out longer but he's still ineffective as he's not match fit.

Bit nervous of him playing against T&T jbased on their tackling against Sweden the other night.

Still, if he really is fine there shouldnt be a problem.

I do agree, although I dont think 20 minutes on the pitch against T&T will make much of a difference to his fitness or the game that he might play. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see him back playing and the supporters were going crazy on Saturday for him, but I would also like to know that he's fit to avoid long term damage to a world class player. :)

Agreed, i just think if they sling him on hes gona get a bad knock and thats it, as i said i know they said his foot was fine, but he aint played yet, yeah its fine for kicking a ball, jogging etc... but whats gona happen when he's in the middle of a game and gets crunched, will it hold up then, hate to see it not.

thats just it though one half is like it says..........one half....... :)

I agree on the quality of Beckham's delivery though, superb and of the top drawer, BUT ffs guys they DO need to improve which they may well do
