World Cup Group B (England, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, Sweden) **SPOILERS**

i have to agree with naan, and be realistic, yes the england players/team is very overated & hyped up "average" team, with these so called stars going missing in games, i predict england will thumble to a 1-0 win.

Naan - why were Cafu and Carlos any better than Neville and Cole? I'd say we had the better two defenders out of the four. Carlos and Cafu hardly set the world alight, and they're never as fast going forward as they used to be.

Carlos / Cafu are miles ahead in the attacking stakes than the English full backs; all you ever hear is how good ashley cole is going forward; if cole is good then roberto carlos is a GOD in that position. I just think the media/fans should stop hyping too much because it probably goes to the players heads too. England has some great individuals but as a team they are not dynamic enough to worry other teams. I have been impressed with how other teams move around when attacking, especially off the ball, and they have been playing football on the ground. I think England are too rigid and are therefore predictable.

Anyway i hope we batter T & T, we need a good result. I guess you have to remember the teams that win competitions are the ones that start off bad and get better as the tournament progresses.

Ashley Cole is one of the most over rated fullbacks at the world cup and Gary Neville is on the decline. How many times did you see post match analysis with England in qualifying whereby the opposition scored as a direct result of Ashley Coles poor positional sense. Great going forward but he needs to learn to defend

He is far from it and has proved it at every level. One of the best defenders in the euros and always one of Arsenals top performers. When playing for England though he is quite often left with no cover whatsoever though.

Just my opinion. But I really don't rate him as highly as the press do. Personally I think it will be a blessing in disguise when he goes this summer as Arsenal have a better all round defender in Gael Clichy. Shock Horror a defender who can actually defend

Clichy is not a better defender and for me isn't better in any aspect. His positioning is terrible although i think he does have the potential to be a lot better.

Ashley Cole is better than Carlos going forward and better than Carlos at defending, as well as being quicker.

Judging him solely on this WC when he's hardly played is harsh.

Exactly.

I just don't see how Carlos/Cafu are as good as Cole/Neville anymore. If Cole was pants, why is he linked to clubs like Chelsea? Neville wasn't exactly dynamite, but he plays very well with Beckham. He usually performs consistantly, defending well and attacking pretty fluidly. I find you tend not to notice Neville - not cos he's poor, but because he's being doing a job at RB for so long.

Vandle-Your reply was even more pointless than mine.

Anyways, I am counting the minutes to the match. I cant wait to see the real England come out to play. This is their best chance to put on a good show and should easily put 3 past T&T while keeping a clean sheet. I am hoping Carragher will start ahead of Hargreaves - for obvious reasons.
Owen needs to hit a goal, as should Crouch - baring this expectancy in mind. It could be likely we see the Roon and Mr Walcott making an appearance in good time.

Prediction, England 3-0 T&T

Scorers, Owen 21, Crouch 46, Rooney 83.

I'd like to see Walcott at least get a chance to prove himself this afternoon, and by that i mean for more than 10 mins. Realisticly he isn't going to be playing any of the later matches unless he performs well today so Sven should at least give him a try, why bring him otherwise .

I agree CliffyG - Pending injuries, this could be Theos chance to show why he is in Germany..........If he doesn't play today, he may not get another chance.

It would be great to see Theo or Lennon come on towards the latter stages of a game; hopefully the opposition will be knackered by then and these can have a field day :)

My thinking is that Sven will give Walcott 22 minutes in the second half should we be 2 or 3 nil up by that time.

Rooney should be saved and given 30 minutes against Sweden next Tuesday.

I think Rooney'll get 20mins or so, he has to I reckon if he's gonna be anywhere near match fit for the knock out stages.
I'm undecided about whether to bet on him getting sent off or injured first when he comes steaming on to the pitch like a warthog with a wasp up it's ****.

After seeing him train yesterday he'll get a straight red whilst get injured in the same tackle!!

if walcott doesnt make an appearance today he never will imo

id like to see lennon in the 2nd half, one things for sure, attacking subs is what i want to see, or at least a 2 goal cushion before we sit back

Harry Redknapp was pretty damming of Theo Walcott in the press this morning saying he is pretty easy to defend against and the more you mark him the more he drifts out to the wings and becomes less effective. He is unsure if he will turn out to be a world beater

If Walcott is fit and doesnt play some part today then his inclusion in the squad must rank as the most idiotic managerial decision ever.If not today ,when? wtf is he there for.Owen and Rooney are still crocked,Crouch has been booked,it is almost inevitable he will have to play some time in the near future,at least give him some gametime when we can,not leave it til we're 2-0 down in the qf for him to make his debut
