World Cup Group B (England, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, Sweden) **SPOILERS**

To say Owen is finished is nothing short of stupid.
It is now 120 days since his injury and he has played barely 3 hours of football in that time.
He's not a kid anymore and cant retain the fitness Rooney can or create something out of nothing like him.
He cant boss and dictate a game like Gerrard , Beckham or Lampard are capable of.
He is a goal scorer , nowt else , and when there is little or no supply to him the end product is zero.

I seem to remember another centre forward getting the nations grief before a major competition almost 10 years ago to the day.
He didnt do too badly.
Totally agree. Everyone said this before the Portugal game inEuro 2004 and he came up with a great goal. People have been saying he's been finished every year but he always comes up with the goods. During his early days at Real he got critised then he got a chance to play and his goals to games ratio was very good.
There are 2 things you need to take into account; firstly (just came up on SSN) Englands have hit 189 long balls in there 2 games  , thats not the type of service that he thrives on and secondly Owen is renowned for taking ages to come back from injury.
I can just imagine it now; 1/4 final Owen gets left on the bench, we're 1-0 down he comes on with 20mins to go and scores twice to win the game.

Tedious to the extreme petal.
Up your game.

up your game? maybe you should up your game, you are talking complete nonsense, just because people were criticising Sheringham 10 years ago it doesn't mean Owen is suddenly going to bang in the goals, it's completely irrelevant.

Whoosh.

Just face it, girls know nowt about footy!

Shemales don't know anything about football either.
Interesting. I wasn't aware of that, but thanks for your enlightening comments. It is good to see your shemale knowledge is better than your footy knowledge.

Teddy Sheringham aged gracefully as a footballer, Michael owen aged exponentially down

You. Are. Wrong.

Check the stats. Or alternatively, just read the thread

It does have relevance.
Shearer I was talking about , not Teddy.

What time is the sunshine variety coach picking you up tonight?

how exactly are you proving me wrong with stats then?

What don't you get?

At his supposed rubbish period:

He had the best goals/minutes ratio at Real Madrid. He scored 13 in 18 starts. He had the second best goals/games ratio after Ronaldo.

He scored 7 goals in 11 games for Newcastle.

All this while being between injuries and everyone telling him he was ****.

Shearer? I wasn't critisicing him at the time - in fact i can't remember anyone who did, anyway you can always find people who criticise a player no matter how good he is. It still has absolutely nothing to do with owen being passed it.

he scored 16 in 46 for madrid, 16 goals in his last season at liverpool, not as many goals as he used to get. I didn't say he wasn't decent still, I said he's not as good as he used to be - everyone knows that, apart from muppets like you.

No. He had 46 appearances at Real. Not games. You can hardly consider 10 minutes of a game, etc, a full game, or, actually, you probably will

He has got worse?

He scored 16 in the league in his last season at Liverpool? What's your point?

He scored 18 in 97-98, 18 in 98-99, 11 in 99-00, 16 in 00-01, 19 in 01-02, 19 in 02-03, 16 in 03-04.

Would you like to point out the downward trend?

Of course he will have better seasons than others, all strikers do. But there is no reason why this next season at Newcastle can't be his best ever. He is guaranteed starts, he's fit and he was banging them in last season.

The 16 in 46 for Madrid, tell me how many of them were coming off the bench for 10 minutes. As for his last season at Liverpool, he got 16 in 29 games and im sure that they say a goal every other game is what a top class striker should aim for.

19 in 38 in his last season at liverpool, not as good as previous years and Liverpool agreed with me as they sold him for peanuts.
