Its true that result wise its gone near-perfect for england and just what we wanted. But after every game ive expected something better in the next but it just hasn't happened apart from a few moments in the first half today.

We'll probably get past equador. Then chances are we'll be up against portugal/holland (presuming portugal finish top of their group and holland dont beat argentina tomorrow) and based on our form at the moment we won't get past either of them i dont think. It needs to improve.
 
You thought Robinson was bad?

He palmed a nice shot onto the bar from close and I'm sure he got another decent save in. Sol was at fault for the second goal too, not him. I didn't think he did too badly, maybe I'm wrong though.
 
I can't wait for Sven to go, his desicion making and tactics are diabolical.

We just tried to shut up shop at 1-0 in the second half and look what happened. He's a complete and utter idiot.

looks like svens squad selection (Strikers) is going to be our downfall afterall...

no one would have ever guessed that.. if england dont pick so many strikers.. then sods law will have a field day
 
Is Carragher incapable of passing the ball forwards without taking 3 or 4 touches?
Ive seen him defending at centre half for Liverpool and generally looks very good.

Why cant we defend corners?
Why not put Crouch covering the front post / corner of the 6 yard box , instead of aimlessly marking?

I thought Hargreaves done well for most of the game tonight , done a lot of work and covered some ground too.
With Crouch being the new Lineker and all that , Hargreaves doing well and Sven packing in after the world cup we are in desperate need of a new scapegoat.
I thought Owen was fitting the bill nicely but it looks as though he wont play again this summer. :(

Isnt it funny how the game works sometimes.
England on top quite comfortably in the first half then after conceeding the goal , the dominant players are almost nowhere to be seen.
Rooney , Hargreaves , Lampard and Cole more or less vanished from the pitch.

I thought that myself when he went off, but ITV seemed to want to think he was a silly kid having a tantrum, because he had to stop playing. :confused:

It's clear the lad really wants to be out there, but he does so for the team, not just for himself. It's why we looked so fired up after he came on against T&T imo, and it's why I said he seems to be doing more to spur on the others than the captain does.

Still, he'll be playing everything from now on, so hopefully he'll give anyone that underperforms a good kicking off the ball. :)
 
im starting to agree.

i enjoy watching every other team besides england.. the team i should love to watch.. but i dont.

im sick of the way we play.. we are really crap. id rather watch tunisia, at least they give it a go..

why cant torres twist his knee...

Seen as Walcott hasn't been played yet our best chance now I'd think is a 4-5-1

I think it would have been a totally different story if Sven was actually staying on after this and not leaving. The fact he made some ridiculous decision is testament that he has nothing to lose. He is putting England's chances at risk because of it.
 
sven should have played walcott instead of crouch...

that was stupid not too.. i mean when is he going to be needed.. the quarter finals?!

at the end of the day darren bent should have been coming on for owen... but that says it all really
 
Could someone clarify that cos Owens been injured during the tournament we're allowed to call up a replacement? I seem to remember when Rooney was injured we wouldnt have been able to replace as he was injured when we picked him but could have replaced a player if he wasnt injured at the beginning. Or was there a deadline for replacements?

Cos if we can Defoe should be packing his bags as I cant see Owen playing again (the way his knee popped out right at the end looked horrible :()

With the line up today i really think owen had a chance to shine and show his critics wrong and if he was on i think we would have played a slightly diff style and could have won easy, i had faith in him but this stuff happens :(

Overall the game in first half seemed to improve for us a lot over the last we was attacking well just unlucky, i was calling sven a noob for subbing rooney for gerrard as that didnt seem to make much sense but it paid off! I personally would have gone Rooney 4 Wallcott and brought lennon on instead of sol! I think lennon has that attack ability we need down the side. He forced a lot of corners and seemed to scare the defense when he was going for it and his pace is awesome!

Next match is going to be interesting, id like to see lennon start we seem to have gained a bit more confidence and tbh the last goal the swedes got was just very very unlucky! Complete fluke imo.

Disappointing really after a decent first half. Great goal from Joe Cole. Hargreaves was very good tonight, think we should be playing a 4-5-1 now with him sat behind Lampard and gerrard and rooney up top. Allows, but also relies on, Gerrard and Lampard getting forward. Think it would work well, couldn't be any worse than having Crouch on imo.

No we can't call up a replacement, you are allowed up to a day or 2 before the tournament (i think) to get someone in to replace an injured player but not when it starts. Sven really has made no sense only taking 4 strikers (well 2 strikers, 1 support striker and 1 lanky useless git).
 
We have a great team who are capable of great football. Why the hell does Sven always want to score one goal then sit back for the rest of the match?

It's a proven fact that the best form of Defence is Attack.
