As far as I can tell Qatar aren't like e.g. the UAE.
Well let's hope that a lot of people practice what they preach in this country in one with different laws. That is don't get ****-faced and start trouble.
Remember S Africa was supposed to be a disaster last summer but it was far from that. Qatar aren't necessarily a poor country, they're far richer than S Africa I shouldn't think they'd have a problem. Expect sun cream sales to sky rocket.

I'm dissapoined we didn't get it, but I'm not going to **** off and say the only way Russia got it was by paying people.
Didn't one of our F.A. people have to quit over such things?
I doubt anyone will get the chance to get hammered out there, I think the only bars around there are ones that are a part of hotels. No night life or anything like that.
And Britain is very corrupt.
I can't see a problem myself.
I find it highly unlikely Russia bought the world cup.
I find it more likely that the country who sings 'football's coming home' are always going to act like this in the face of failure.

England's bid was 4th out of 4, with 1 vote. Awesome.
Guardian reporting that FIFA's own report into Qatar highlighted it as being the bid with a substantial risk of "trouble" due to the severely different culture (Ie: Muslim state) not being exactly compatible with a typical football fan.

I'm not actually that bothered, nor surprised.
Things just dont add up to a certain degree (you said yourself you haven't seen anything about this until today) so I would conclude its likely (not certain) that Russia used 'dark tactics' to win the bid.
Would have been quite good having the WC so close, but it's very funny watching the moaning and crying about not getting it. Everybody will be completely bitter about this for the next 8 years, even though they never had a chance, simply because the English mentality is that they are the best in the world and deserve everything on a plate.
