World Cup Hosts 2018

Round 1: England 2 votes, Netherlands/Belgium 4 votes, Spain/Portugal 7 votes and Russia 9 votes.

Round 2: Netherlands/Belgium 2 votes, Spain/Portugal 7 votes and Russia 13 votes (Russia obtain absolute majority)

why would 4 people vote in round 1 for Netherlands and then only 2 in the second? Then those 2, along with the 2 from the british vote all "coincidentally" vote for Russia.

People like to back the winning team. David Davies said that during the bidding process for the 2006 world cup, Jack Warner said he'd vote for England in R1 and in R2 only if we got 6 votes or more in R1 (remember Warner effectively has 3 votes). We got 5nin R1, he switched his vote to Germany, ze Germans put on a good show.

R1: UK & USA vote for UK
R2: UK & USA vote for Dutch, the 4 people who voted for them before now vote for Russia

The voting was as follows:

Round 1

England 2
Netherlands-Belgium 4
Spain-Portugal 7
Russia 9

Round 2

Netherlands-Belgium 2
Spain-Portugal 7
Russia 13

R1: UK & USA vote for UK

You don't think that maybe, just maybe, the Belgian member of the FIFA Executive Committee would have voted for the Netherlands and Belgium bid in both rounds?

Of course they will...its a sport not a war is it??:p...although i do wonder as well if Israel hosted the WC would they allow the muslim countries to play....hmmm

They would never get a chance to host the world cup as they have too much baggage; many Eastern nations wouldn't go anywhere near the place, and the Palestinians are actively resisting the occupation.

Israel has no right to exist anyway, so why should it host anything of global importance?

The entire sport is riddled with corruption and scams.....

dont give a crap about it anymore... last world cup was imho a joke...utter drivel.

wow this thread was on 3 pages when I went to work at 1:30

It is a complete joke really, we came fourth...... ie last place.

How on earth we can be last place is beyond a joke really.

I'd have to agree with that, not just because of the various stuff surrounding the topic of this thread but mainly because the number one priority of 'football' isn't about what happens on a footy pitch anymore.

How on earth could we have done so badly?

Number of reasons.

Our bid might not of being that good, but of course the media will tell you it was a good bid.

The F.A. / Media might of put them off.

Or our bid might not of suited what they were looking for (given they've chosen Russia / Quatar and South Africa recently this looks more likely)

I understand that the choice of Russia is more aligned with what FIFA are supposedly trying to do with the sport. Given that we have essentially come last, is that a fair reflection on the quality of our bid?
