World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

I too am interested in this.
Really hard to decide whether or not to go for this monitor. 175hz OLED, but smaller and tighter curve...

Exactly my thoughts. If I was using it purely for gaming then there would be no question as the OLED sounds like it's going to be better in every way, but I'm still WFH (and hopefully will be for the foreseeable future), so looking at lots of text all day means the colour fringing is still a concern (although it sounds like this may be being blown out of proportion), and the extra resolution is handy (plus the increased risk of burn in).

Was hoping to see them side by side to compare, but since mine isn't coming for a month now (at least...) that's going to be a bit of a pain. Tempted to get rid of the 38" anyway and pick up a cheap 4k 2nd monitor purely for work...

The colour fringing really is being blown out of proportion. if you sit a reasonable distance from the screen you really don't see it.
I sit about a 1-1.5m from my current screen and tested the same with the AW and i didn't notice the fringing. Not till i stuck my face 10cm from the screen. I also have good eyesight as well.

I've learned a few new things and made some other observations today.

Lastly, can anyone check their panel by shining a torch at it when it's off to see if you have what I have? There are impression marks on the surface around some edges of the front panel where that bubble style cover was attached at the factory to protect during transit. It's only been pressed up against the panel and left some marks. Just wondering what product I can use to clean it off as don't want to damage the AR coating if I use the wrong chemicals etc!

Here's what mine looks like:

It is only visible when you shine a torch at it like this.

All these puns, so many of them!

I also have this showing on my screen as well, i found that just rubbing the screen with a microfibre cloth got rid of a fair amount of it, although there are some tougher areas that didn't even clean off with a small amount of iso spray.

That’s good to hear as I tend to sit 30-40cm from mine.

I honestly think we need to wait for Hardware Unboxed's review - what's taking them so long? :(
Why, you don’t trust your own eyes? :p

The best review is going to be from Vincent at HDTVTest.

Yeah both have merits

hardware unboxed's reviews provide more benchmarks, but the problem is they treat everything like it's measurable - they never compare what the screens actually look like va one another, everything is just measured and placed on a graph - the problem with this approach is that people place subjective opinions on which screens they buy and by only showing graphics with latency, brightness color deviation and whatnot it removes any subjectivity and implies that everyone should just buy the screen that gets the brightest even though it may not be the "best looking" or most "visually appealing"

HDTVtest doesn't benchmark as many things, but Vincent does put up screens so the user can actually see what it looks like via other screens

Rtings does a good job too and what they do better than HUB is that they place weighted scores on each aspect and a total score - it makes it easy to determine which screen you should consider for your purchase, HUB reviews don't do this

I've cancelled mine - seems minor issues but a lot of them and biggest is not getting instant gratification by having to wait a month (at least)...

Might get an extra long HDMI to my LG tv... lol

I think some of the problems with doing the side by side with this screen is how the camera is setup. As this screen produces much better reds, yellows and golds so it can be difficult to setup the camera to not make things looks over saturated or washed out as i have seen in some comparissons. Where as live content looks nothing like the poor photos of this screen or video. Where it looks as though a ton of detail is lost in the picture.

Anticipation is half the fun I find holds true in many cases, so I don’t mind waiting a while as got it at a good price :)

I saw a French version of the Dell delay mail on Reddit with the same April date as mine - cant help but think its just a placeholder..

Well that is good to hear more people are cancelling as they cannot wait then, might make my orders actually turn up on time.

I said yesterday when we got the emails I thought it was one too. A placeholder they've given everyone to try and cut down on the CS calls.

That said considering some reps were saying they expected a delivery next week, maybe it may come sooner for some? Who knows.

For you guys who are more familar with quicdo, do transactions show up after it's been shipped and billed? I don't see anything. This is my first time using the service so trying to figure it out.

It should track within 24 hours, if not you'll need to raise a claim. Seems pretty normal for Dell tbh - mine didn't track either. IIRC neither did the one for my 38" last year, but I raised a claim for it which has since been paid.
