World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

I am only really noticing a line/impression line down the middle (like exactly the middle) of the screen and only on certain greys it looks like. This is new as could swear it was not something I noticed in the first few days as ran through my colour palette PNGs when I first got the screen to check uniformity etc.

I believe this is the sort of thing that is adjusted for during "pixel shift" and also panel refresh. I have not yet done a panel refresh though as it takes an hour.

Agreed on that front.
Glad to report no seeing that on mine. I run through the usual RGB + BW colours plus this #22222 one I made myself.

Starting to get used to this monitor already. Loving it :D

Hmm it could well be, not too sure, I do have two browser windows open side by side so could be that although they are a little off centre in the middle though. It definitely was not there few days ago as I have been checking colour screens when testing out 8bit, 10bit etc etc. Unless it is indeed a fault that has developed with my screen maybe? It is smack in the middle of the screen, like if I touch the jog dial button and line my finger, it is exactly inline with that, so exactly the middle which doesn't make sense if it was image retention although I am tempted to do a panel refresh now as have finished my work just to be sure.

Good thing a replacement is coming today then I guess either way :p

So far trying out 63 brightness which is 140 nits according to Vincent. Looks good on desktop, going to see if I can stick with that :)

Got my first pixel refresh pop up. Seems to basically come up when you are turning off the monitor and you just click to proceed and it turns off the monitor once it is done. Nice and easy.

Had a quick go on Counter Strike GO. Definitely a night and day difference in motion clarity and smoothness. Also did enjoy the ultrawide aspect ratio a lot for it.

@Nexus18 What are you using 8bit 175hz or 10bit 144hz? I tried both but can’t really see a difference in image quality :o:p

You will be able to tell the difference in 8bit to 10bit if you have a gradient in colour shift, like a sunset where the colours gentle changes across a large area. On 8bit you will see banding, on 10bi it should be a smooth transition.

No you won't see banding in most cases or even all on this display with an nVidia card (and modern AMD going by a few replies too). nVidia's 8bit+dither is indistinguishable from native 10 bit on PC when paired with a capable display. For all intents and purposes, 8bit + dither = 10 bit native. 10 bit 144 Hz though is ideal for those that do see some flicker at 175Hz, but not everyone is affected by it as some mentioned previously.

Well dell are giving me a 10% discount on the second order so can't complain too much, yet..... :p

@TNA

ATM 175hz 8 bit, mainly due to not noticing any banding and in the games where you can run higher than 144+ fps, the benefit of higher hz is somewhat noticeable. Yet to really notice flickering (outside of the flickering with dark grey backgrounds etc.) in usage with the higher hz.

My 5 and 10% grey slides, camera over exposes these big time and picks up on things you can't see with your eyes but leagues ahead of lg oleds, just have a look in the c2 42" thread to see the uniformity and banding issues still somewhat plaguing them (panel refresh thing does help though):

For comparison, my LG e7 and c7 back when I first got them:

This was before the panel refresh ran:

Which wasn't noticeable in most content but certain scenes, when panning, you could easily see it, particularly with sky shots, my e7 was very good after a couple of refreshes though so not really that noticeable:

Think this was the c7:

Can't say I notice the aw issues with my own eyes, uniformity etc. looks perfect. Not ran a panel refresh yet but it would probably clear up any issues that are there, might do one tonight just before bed.

How much was the order price on your second monitor? :)

I am going to try both out for a while and see how I get on. Had it on 10bit 144hz until a few hours ago.

so £747 now?

10% of 847 will bring it down to £763 I think? Then amex £100, will bring it down to £663 :D

Quidco is currently showing £51 tracked but that will probably drop a bit when first monitor goes back, that and I don't think it'll go through anyway.

Absolutely crazy price for brand new monitor tech!

Yeah, can't complain about the price. Looking at between ~£695 and £737 depending on whether Quidco pays out (paid £847, been promised another 5% to match the code which was floating around, and another 5% for the delay). Unfortunately no Amex card here

What do you say to support? Like you just ask for a discount because delayed and they just give it to you and even applying a discount to your already discounted order?

I just said my delivery date should have been 24th March and I was very disappointed it had been delayed by a month - any chance of a goodwill gesture because of the delay?
