World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

A bit more testing and tweaking later and you're all going to think I'm a complete savage... but using the settings posted in here for creator mode just looks terrible to me - like, almost greyscale!

Currently using "Standard" mode for desktop usage (with the brightness dropped right down) and "RPG" for gaming.

Maybe not the most accurate - RPG in particular looks extremely oversaturated on the desktop - but looks amazing in games, which ultimately is why I spent ~£800 on a QD-OLED instead of £150 on a TN.

After tweaking cleartype settings, text definitely looks a lot better - not quite as sharp as my old IPS, but definitely useable.

Had a quick go on Doom this morning, and my word, the motion clarity is completely insane - I thought the AW3821DW was good, but this is just on another level!

Have to agree a little here, I prefer my colours to 'pop' a little too and Creator seems a bit muted to me (albeit more accurate). I'll try the RPG setting see if I like it.

And BetterClearType definitely worth using! Improves it for sure :)

edit - Yeah, while RPG certainly improves the colours it might be a little bit too much on desktop...

Dell did it the right way. Out of box, you ideally want one preset that's dedicated towards accuracy and that's what creator is. After that, there's plenty of options for people to tune things to their subjective tastes. So we get the best of both really.

And yes, the motion clarity is absurd on this display.

Alas my April "ETA" date appears to be missed. Unless it magically gets posted and received on the same day. :p

Getting more and more envious of those that have already received theirs! Won't be cancelling with the vast majority reporting positive feedback.

It ran its pixel refresh when i turned it on today and now I have a green line of pixels from the top to the bottom. Lovely stuff.

I now have exactly the same thing, even after another refresh still there, wasnt an issue yesterday...

Luckily not had nothing like that and I have had the monitor probably the longest here (the ones that got it earlier have had to either get a replacement or send it back). Not had to use panel refresh and don’t plan to any time soon. Just the standard pixel one that happens when I turn off the monitor so far.

Good thing is we have 3 years warranty so any problems like this we can get a replacement, so nothing lost. Would suck to get such a problem on an LG or the upcoming ASUS OLED’s, would be without a monitor for ages

Hi wondered If my monitor is normal or not. The screen seems dull and not very bright even with contrast and brightness on 100%. Am I missing something else?
Can't remember the exact value but OLED screens don't typically go over 250nits full screen brightness. So if you're used to LCD levels of brightness you might be disappointed.

What was your previous monitor set at? If you are someone who came from a monitor set at 500nits or something crazy like that for 24/7 use then this might seem dull. If not probably a dodgy monitor. Maybe take a picture and post it here?

Brightness is a personal preference thing I find. Some like it at 80nits, others 100 or 120. I have mine set at 140 as I recall as I find 80 nits or whatever mrk uses to be dull. No matter how much more accurate it is I like the colours to pop a little and as I don’t do any colour critical work I am happy to sacrifice a little accuracy for it.

If 100 brightness and contrast isn't good enough (i'm not sure how can handle that even), then i'd sell it/send it back.

making out both slides will likely lead to ABL issues, not to mention some pretty massive color and grayscale inaccuracies.

Played some Horizon Zero Dawn earlier for the first time on this and have to say it's way more impressive than it was on LCD IPS, and it looked great back then! The benchmark scores are higher now too but not sure if that's related to the QD-OLED being at 144Hz vs the old screen's 60Hz and lack of gsync etc.

I've switched to Trueblack400 for HDR gaming and media now too as find it perfectly good and gradations/transitions are more accurate vs Peak 1000.

Just like God of War, the responsiveness on screen movement and mouse input just feels instant now, and the motion smoothness is just supreme. god knows how anyone can go back to LCD gaming after this lol.

I found HZD to easily be the showcase for HDR in this monitor. It just takes image quality to a whole new level imo.

Creator mode looked a little dull for me at first too, but after a couple of days of my brain adjusting and setting brightness a bit higher than mrk and nexus I found it to be just fine. Way I see it is when browsing and general use I do not want it to be too high which is probably not good for my monitor, but more importantly to my eyes. But clearly this is a very subjective area.

When playing games I turn on HDR even in non HDR games that uses Auto HDR which is obviously brighter than creator mode, therefor not needed to try rpg mode or anything like that. But might give it a go at some point. At the moment I am playing proper HDR games and those are plenty bright.
