World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

I'm still hoping for a refresh of the qd-oled 21:9 that we already have. It's the perfect resolution and ratio for me.

The LG 3440x1400 panel announced has way too much curve for me.

So my launch model died, it just would not power on, so Dell sent a replacement two days later, a refurbished unit....

It wasn't even factory reset and was on the brightest MOBA/RTS preset...

I had my AW3423DWF working just great and Windows 11 started doing some really odd stuff and I have done a clean install.

I can't for the life of me get the monitor working like I did before. I had HDR off in Windows and Auto HDR on in DDM. I hate HDR for Windows desktop. If I fired up Diablo IV however, it would enable HDR automatically which is ideal.

I tried reading back through this thread for some settings but can't find them.

Can @mrk or someone else recap please? Sorry!! Not sure if I needed to install stuff other than DDM

Cheers!

Yeah I have that and ran it and saved the profile. I'm missing something else though because the settings just don't work as they did previously.

So it's not auto triggering HDR mode like it did before? There was a tool that you could add any game to which when loaded, would trigger HDR mode in Windows and then go back to SDR when exiting the game. I forgot the name of the tool though but it was posted in this thread. Personally I don't use HDR in games enough to warrnt needing to use the tool so I never actually bothered with it!

Only a tiny number of games auto trigger HDR mode when you enable HDR in the game settings, REengine games for example do.

Yeah, it's not triggering - Diablo IV definitely was previously. However.. If I enable Smart HDR via DDM then it enables HDR in windows. If I disable HDR in Windows then it disabled Smart HDR. It never did that previously I'm sure?

DDM as in via the OSD? Smart HDR is automatic, if you enable HDR in Wndows via the settings page or via the WINKEY+B shortcut if you have XBOX Game Bar installed, then that triggers Smart HDR in the OSD which is the expected behaviour.

If by DDM you mean you've installed something like Dell Display manager then it must be that causing the issue. I don't use any of Dell or ALienware's apps as they tend to be a bit rubbish anyway and not necessary at all. I'd personally uninstall them unless you have a specific need for them.

Uninstall using Uninstalr or Revo Uninstaller Portable to get rid of the crap it also leaves behind.

Just seeing a few posts on reddit who have and suppsoedly the quality of the panel itself is quite noticeably better (not talking resolution wise)
