World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

Following on from the monitor not waking up from sleep post the other day, today the monitor just powered off completely as I was working on something. It had completely shut down inc the fans inside and no buttons would bring it back, had to pull the power, wait 10s then heard Windows chime, reconnected it and it came back on.

First gen OLED quirks?

Might need to file an RMA sooner rather than later at this rate

Mine from launch day is still flawless, no image retention either still and it's pretty much used constantly too. Weird how there seems to be so much variance on this.

Also noticed that in the dell account all 3 previous monitors are listed but not the 4th latest one back from months ago lol. On the phone with dell now trying to get that sorted. Apparently the service tag doesn't exist so not sure wtf is going on other than someone at dell's warehouse never entered this into their database when the pallet truck arrived perhaps so it's basically a ghost?

Some scenes for sure today...

Thats just a Dell monitor quirt. We get it pretty frequently at work with the Dells. Unplugged and power cycle and they come back to life

My first AW3423DW (bought at launch) was replaced as it had a dead pixel smack in the middle of the screen (well slightly towards the top).

So I've had the second one for a while but just noticed some slight taskbar burn in only on the right hand side (I do hide my task bar).

Managed to get a new one last time around but unsure if it would be a refurb after almost two years of ownership.

Might give Dell a call in a week as I will be away for a bit. eek

It was bought with 3 years burn in warranty, I will be getting 3 years burn in warranty no matter how many times it needs replacing. They can't just change the contract of sale like that especially with no written confirmation etc. If they try to shizzle things up like that the next time I need an RMA on this AW then I'll just find another fault that forces them to rma it. It's most likely a case of clueless support departments anyway.

Bring on the dead pixels! :D

I got one already, stuck showing red, and I will absolutely be doing an RMA before the 3 years are up regardless of burn in or no burn in, so I can get a new replacement and at that stage, when the replacement arrives I won't even open the box, I will sell it and buy a newer monitor for myself - hopefully at that stage there are 5120x2160 34 inch OLEDs for sale

Ah yes! ok, will give it a go in a week or two.

Planning to buy another Alienware OLED - maybe the 32" but the 34" DWF with the discount is tempting as well for a second location I game at. However, if Dell kick up a fuss with the DW replacement I'll most likly scrap that idea.

The AW3423DW was my first ultrawide and I do love that aspect ratio!

I've been 21:9 for a decade and went back to 16:9. I really do miss the immersion 21:9 brings.
