World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

Might research this one a bit more then. My main issue with WOLED was lack of a glossy screen. This one looks to have the glossy screen and according to RTINGS has great inky blacks etc. I like that it has a bit more of a standard style base. Being a ROG fanboi I like the little ROG chin too...

But I do want to go ultrawide... Damn my indecision!

Ultrawide is life.

Ultrawide is life.

I might also be essentially blowing the issue of the "grey" blacks out of proportion. Ultrawide is something I really want, I just want to stay below the £1000 mark, if it can be closer to £500 even better! But considering I've now had a screen I've not been 100% happy with since 2016, I wanna get it right and not be in a situation of returning stuff. But if I hadn't read it in a review and had it seeded in my mind would I care? Probably not...

I just always find it such a ball ache returning stuff so prefer to try and get it right the first time

I'd say if you want ultrawide and can game in a dark room, the aw34 will be a huge upgrade from your current screen and no brainer.
If you are doing a majority of your gaming in a room with ambient light, that is where the the raised black needs consideration when compared to a woled. Anyone who comes from an older tech straight to qdoled probably can't see the issue. But if you are already used to woled in ambient light, you will definitely notice the raise on a qdoled.

I can easily control the ambient light in my room, but I do prefer not to game in the dark usually. Unless I'm playing a game with a lot of dark scenes in it.

I've been thinking about it and might see if I can go see a screen in the flesh. The other screen I'm thinking about is the Samsung Odyssey G8 Ultrawide one which I can go see at a high street retailer (my only point against it is the mini connectors instead of the AW screens full size ones otherwise I prefer the look of the Samsungs stand). At least that way I can get a kind of "ball park" idea of what these QD-OLED's look like is my thinking

Just got my replacement, M0B204 and august 2023 build date, I guess this is the latest. Also refreshing to experience the monitor again, and this time with no burn in.
New update. Just replaced that monitor with a new one from dell due to burn in. AW3423DW, M0B205 and November 2023 build date. Feels like these monitors burn in really fast, I'm predicting I will have to replace a monitor again and its not even a year from the previous replacement.

That's really poor, were you really careful?

No taskbar, no desktop icons, careful with brightness, wallpaper on a slideshow, using the panel refresh etc?

I wasn't careful. Never had an issue for over 2 years, then sold it.

Same here, mine is absolutely perfect at almost 2 years old. I have really looked carefully for burn in too. I always run the pixel refresh when prompted (unless I am due to shut down in the next 10 mins or so, then it does it automatically when it goes to sleep).

How often does the refresh run? I'm not really envisioning much issue with burn in, I'll be using it for a mixture of gaming and watching stuff on youtube, so should be okay by reckoning.

It prompts for pixel refresh every 4 hrs, and does it automatically when it goes to sleep if it's overdue. The refresh takes around 6-8 mins. There is also a panel refresh function that takes up to an hour, I have only run this once though. I use mine for gaming and productivity and even connect my work laptop to it sometimes. I have had no issues at all. It's a great monitor. When i'm not gaming, I keep the HDR mode off.
