World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

I had higher PPI coming from 27" 4K. All the text and stuff seems natural at 34" UW, though. Not done much in the way of gaming yet. But as I am using an RTX 3080 eGPU, I think I will favour the lower res a bit tbh. My 4090 with my 65" 4K OLED upstairs nowadays.

Having now made the swicth to 34" UW 1440P OLED, I haven't missed the 4K res at all, all the other avantages more than negate the loss of of the extra pixels, and more FPS.

Hmm perhaps this device manage component is what kick starts the random reinstall of the AWCC crap, I've disabled it in device manager to see what happens:

It exists even if you've wiped every trace of AWCC from Windows by the way so it something the monitor negotiates with the OS at a low level. You can uninstall it from device manager but it just comes back next restart.

Windows 24H2 update? I did that today and saw AWCC was installed right after the windows update!
Yes, been using it for months because of release preview insider build
So bloody annoying, it’s like spyware trying to get rid of it.
For sure, seems to happen every time there is a new version of AWCC

I'll try this too, didn't notice this when I was looking before

@mrk
Can you help me, I see you replaced your A3423DW 6 times and I'm considering replacing mine due to burn in. But the problem I heard they only replace 1 time due to burn in and I already replaced mine which developed burn in. So is the replacement able to be replaced? how do you get yours replaced so many times?

The fan on mine is becoming a problem, concerned if I get a replacement it may be a refurb or potentially be worse. It's such a shame as the monitor itself is great.

Think that was just some random rep comment that didn't mean anything. Just do the rma as normal though the Dell portal. Doesn't matter what anyone else says there's 3 years warranty with burn in.

Wonder if it's tied to certain revisions? I have an early model and I have never seen any trace of this.

Had my first automatic panel refresh last night. Came as a surprise as I've never explored this option in the settings menu. Normally just rely on the pixel refresh when it prompts.

Took around 50 mins. Panel refresh is used when you've had a static image on for extensive time, I haven't; so I've just put it down precautionary step given I've used it for over a year.

Must admit I've been playing on my retro rig, and OLED spoils you when compared to IPS.

So after my last round of upgrades my monitor is the last piece of the puzzle that needs replacing, my current one is a Dell SG2716DG. To be honest, I've kind of low key been disappointed with it from the jump. But I was adamant at the time I didn't want one of the uber gamer looking monitors like the Acer Predators of the period. I've almost 100% decided on the Alienware AW3423DWF as it seems the one that fits the bill for all I want. I'm especially keen on the fact that it's been supported with firmware upgrades by Dell since launch.

The only thing I wanted to hear about from some owners is what its like with reflections from ambient light? my room is not super bright most of the year. During the summer it can get bright but curtains sort that out. Some of the reviews I've looked at have commented that the coating used on these QD-OLED panels makes the picture look a bit grey when there is some ambient light.

Not had an issue with the screen looking grey, sounds an odd statement as the colours on the panel are stunning in all light conditions within my room.

My window isn’t directly on the panel though so natural light isn’t an issue.

The qdoled doesnt have a polariser and so doesn't stay true black when there is ambient lighting, the woled panels do. This is why you probably read about it, as it is one of the differences between the 2 OLED techs.

It's a slight purple hue, I can't notice it personally unless there's bright sunlight and I'm looking for it.
Its really quite obvious for me. Luckily I use black out windows for 100% of my gaming so isn't a personal issue. But with the lights on dim I can already differentiate the slightly grey screen against the black border. In day time, it is about the level of my tn panel. In both conditions the woled in the same room stays black. I mention as for some, I could see woled being better due to more gaming time being in a non light controlled environment. Claims that you need direct sunlight to make the blacks turn grey is not correct.
